Straightforward, plain and simple. Feel free to add yours.

Right

  • Having a portal that denies entry until it starts. It makes me so much happier not having to come 1 hour early to a map just to avoid getting in an overflow.
  • The overall direction of having a common goal and encouraging players to work together. Although I still find Marionette to be a superior system in its simplicity and enjoyment it gave. This is certainly in the right direction.

Wrong

  • Rewarding mindless zerging more than those actually contributing to the event by going around rescuing citizens.
  • Being able to afk in the map and still be able to fully leech an entire reward.
  • Giving no direct reward whatsoever to the most important event factor (saving citizens) while “zerg” events will reward you with tons of loot and champion bags.

Except now you have to come 1 hour early to the map where the portal is instead, surely?

Rewarding mindless zerging more than those actually contributing to the event by going around rescuing citizens.

The rewards for mob farming are much lower than the rewards for completing the event milestones.

Being able to afk in the map and still be able to fully leech an entire reward.

Only if you come back from afk in the 1-3 minutes between completion and being killed to death by the miasma. I don’t think the chests are still claimable after you zone out, but I could be wrong.

Giving no direct reward whatsoever to the most important event factor (saving citizens) while “zerg” events will reward you with tons of loot and champion bags.

They won’t actually: unlike most events in GW2, these champions (and their guard mobs) actually scale up based on the number of people around them. So 3x as many people = 3x as long to kill.

Perhaps Anet should disable Commander tags in the event map for this reason?
