Put concisely, I think this evolution is impressive. The destruction of Lion’s Arch has such a realistic punch to it, it’s not just the usual stuff MMO companies brew up. This was the annihilation of our main city. Personally, this Living Story was the first one that I’ve experienced that made the world feel dynamic, though we all have our own opinions. Concerning the near future, I hope Anet doesn’t just tidy up LA and we all go back to acting like nothing really happened. Of course it would be nice to return to our city at one point, but it would be an outright shame to invalidate this major point in Tyrian history.

I would like for them to make the players involved with the future of lions arch. Have us do things that make it better or worse there.

It’s a kitten conspiracy. Kittens gonna be kittens. All is vain!

Agree with the OP.
Say what you want, but it was a really ballsy move by Anet to destroy Lion’s Arch.
It wasn’t just ‘Oh some enemies show up and you fight them…’ sort of thing… Scarlet’s forces swooped in and hit LA like the German Blitzkrieg, and demolished the place.
And it shows… Sure, we eventually gained the city back, but the damage is done. Walking around is a sobering experience as you see the ruins of what was arguably the central hub of Tyria.
Should Lion’s Arch be rebuilt? I don’t see why not. But it should take a good while at least. Aside from a few buildings that managed to survive the attack, everything is rubble. And that should take a lot of time to clean up before any rebuilding is even considered.

“If half as many people were half as brave in real life as they were online…
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’

To not rebuild LA would be admitting that Scarlet and her murderers won, and they broke our spirit and split our Pact.

I agree with the OP as well. Even though I think the whole of the main story was poorly written, to destroy a game’s major city down to smoldering ruins takes guts. And the first time I logged in for the Aftermath, I was impressed with the destruction of the place. Some game devs just adjust the maps a tiny bit after an update, but Anet went batkitten on the place.

+1 to Anet for that.

Edit: lol “batkitten”

While LA as it was known will be missed, I sure won’t miss the loading times it brought with it.

I would have been much happier if the loss of such a major city had a bigger impact. Like a scattering of services. The dungeon vendors all get spread out to their relevant dungeons, the portals go to Vigil, which makes sense, but the forge goes to the Priory. While the Consortium moves to the beach outside the Whispers. The only place to find bank, black lion and crafting now being the other cities. Forcing people to spread out much much more to feel the actual bite of the lose of convenience that LA was.

How ‘bout no? I’m all for the bit on dungeon vendors spreading out, but I’d rather not loose the convenience. Using that stuff in conjunction was a pain in LA, and you want to make it worse?

Very much. I want to split the community around what they want to do and where they feel at home. I don’t like central hubs, I like multiple community hubs.

What about those of us that felt at home in LA?

I see it as a win-win situation. Anet gets a chance to make a better main hub than what we had at launch, and we as the players will have the opportunity to see a city actually grow over time and potentially respond to choices we as a community make.

And yes, it WILL get rebuilt. LA has already been rebuilt twice in the lore, and I doubt that this time will be any different.
