So Scarlet has been defeated, we’ve celebrated an awkward party, all her minions are magically gone, so why the heck are there still spore events out there?

Because nature?

Game reason: Because spore samples are still required for recipes.
Logic reason: Because the spores got spread up in the air and are still slowly falling to the ground after the tower’s destruction.

Then spores should be gatherable like food items. The events themselves seem a little out of place now.

The same reason you see Risen in nearly every map. Not everyone finished the game/ experienced Kessex getting nuked. I assume these events would give people a taste of content.

I’d really still like to have a spore node for the personal instance; randomly running around maps hoping for an event spawn of these is too tedious for how many you get.

I cleaned my shower once. Why does the mildew keep coming back?

but this is living story, even if the spores are still there, why is the toxic alliance still there? they should be broken

Not necessarily
Yes Scarlet is dead
Yes we kicked them out of the arch
Doesn’t mean they are broken they could stand on their own just like the Aetherblades

but would the two xenophobic factions stay together?

Krait enslave therefore I would think they would just enslave the courtiers

Krait enslave therefore I would think they would just enslave the courtiers
My theory is that it’s actually the other way around. When the nightmare tower was up we could see both toxic corrupted krait walking around with regular ones, since the tower went down I’ve only seen the glowing toxic krait.
I have a theory that the spores Scarlet used were engineered to have some mind control properties on the Krait it corrupted, which is why they still worked side by side with the nightmare court after it was clear they weren’t getting a prophet out of it all.
About the courtiers, their goal is to commit evil acts in order to spread chaos and destruction hoping enough of it goes back to the dream of dreams in the form of nightmares to corrupt it and make it break free of the ventari tablet’s influence. They’re not necesarely xenophobic, but they don’t want something created by other races be the main guiding phylosophy of their whole species, and they had already shown they’re willing to ally with other races to reach that goal: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sinister_Triad
As for the stalks themselves, I remember that Marjory stated after the tower of nightmares was destroyed that the roots were still producing the toxic spores.

Scarlet somehow convinced them to work together. She didn’t stand around all day holding a gun to their heads. Why would her death even matter?

I have to agree that the spore events (big towers with Toxic Alliance guards) seems a little strange. Personally I think these should be removed entirely.
And then for those still hunting for spores you could still have those little patches of seedlings in Kessex Hills here and there as remnants of the event. That way people can still obtain spore samples.

If we killed Bin Laden, why are there still terrorists?

Clearly they are Toxic Dandelions. Even if you cut off their heads, they will always return. They might seem more alive though if they rotated through different zones instead of being always present.

Because players need the pristine spores and nature abhors a vacuum and the spores have spread like kudzu!

Because…um…I don’t have a good reason for you. With the events only giving you one spore sample per stalk, it’s far quicker/more efficient to just get them from the nodes in Kessex Hills. I guess the developers just didn’t feel like getting rid of them. Until they give 5 – 10 samples again like they did in the beginning, there’s little reason to bother with these things.

The Krait may still be trying to revive the hybrid, now that they know it can be done, the toxins are still very useful to them. The witches probably want to continue the research.

They still are. There aren’t many nodes, but they’re around in Kessex Hills at least. Look for four or five of the little leafy/plant symbols close together.

The spores should stay in Kessex Hills, but the events are out of place and should probably go in most areas.
