Why do people think LA will be rebuilt?

They should make the HOM portal stones as self-Hub.
Not gonna lie, that’d be awesome, but it should be tied to having 50pts in HoM, otherwise it defeats the purpose of the VIP status these hubs are supposed to have.

I think it will be rebuilt because that’s what people do after a disaster hits their city. It’s relatively rare for the survivors to give up and move elsewhere, unless there has been a major cataclysm that makes the area uninhabitable.
So far all we’ve seen is that the buildings have been damaged or destroyed, enemies have taken over and the air is poisonous.
If/when we can clear the enemies out, stop them releasing miasma and put the fires out LA will still be a central location with a good harbour making it a perfect location for a trade hub. And all those citizens in the refugee camps will need to live somewhere. Some might have family or other reasons to move away but for most reclaiming and rebuilding the homes they had will be more desirable than trying to start over elsewhere.
Some of the refugees in the camps are already talking about their plans for rebuilding.

It’s now impossible to get the stone unless you have linked accounts, as the merchant that had it dissappeared.
…which likely means the stone is now in Scarlet posession
It could keep the same sort of aesthetics for all I care I just want it to be built up to be the actual CITY it was always pitched as. I mean outside of the bank/trade hub area there’s next to nothing. Something like four bars and a dozen houses, that’s not a city that’s a village at best.
I like the aesthetics in LA (the ship fragments and so on) but that is true, it’s a ramshackle collection of hovels for the most part, it’d be nice to see it rebuilt and rebuilt as something new, taking some of the original ship based design and adding human, norn, sylvari, asura and charr influences but make it more like a city and less of a village.
For the OPs topic, it will be rebuilt for any number of reasons, as a monument to Tyria’s indomitable spirit, as an in game hub again, to “fill in the gap” in the games world that this will leave when the invasion is over, hell even just to allow the players a sense of a true victory: if we beat Scarlet but lose Lion’s Arch forever then who has really won? The controversial villain that is (hopefully) dead or the players that remain behind?
It’s not destroyed, it’s flamekissed!

I hope when scarlet takes over the whole of tyria that she will create an awesome steampunk style city to replace LA. we all know her resources are endless lets just all /kneel before her greatness and except our fate.

The idea that the, now united, races of Tyria would simply abandon the city rather than band together to push out the attacks, reclaim Lion’s Arch, and rebuild it through a united effort is not an outcome I’ll believe until I see more than someone vaguely hinting at secret knowledge to get attention.
This, and if it doesn’t happen then the writers don’t really understand Tyria.
If the zone becomes a gaping hole of molten death where no city could possibly be placed, then what?
If the zone becomes a gaping hole of molten death where no city could possibly be placed, then what?
Then it’s become a gaping hole of molten death where no city could possibly be placed and you’ve answered your own question but I don’t think that’s likely to happen.
I’ll be disappointed if the Seraph, the Legions and the Wolfborn don’t swing into action to help them retake Lion’s Arch, humans, charr and norn have already suffered at the hands of Scarlet’s minions and I feel they’d be aching for some payback. It doesn’t have to be the Vigil every time.

Just remember, Scarlet is drilling for something. Maybe a giant monster, maybe a ley line. Whatever it is, it is going to be big and full of energy. There is more than enough room for the result of this being such massive devastation that LA is literally wiped from the map forever.

It’s likely going to be rebuilt after this is over for no other reason than to give Anet a place to continually recycle the holiday events.
They already said they don’t want to spend time and effort making each year’s holiday vastly different from one another, and having to re-do the events from scratch because LA went away permanently would kind of defeat that mission statement.
Either way, unless Mordremoth popping out of the hole Scarlet’s drilling leads to an explosion so great that it leaves Lion’s Arch a smoking crater, there’s nothing this event has done to the city that can’t easily be rebuilt.
Besides, as someone else said: Temporary content is temporary. We can’t just have a brand new Dynamis-style end-game zone to play around with until the end of time, that’d be forward thinking. The ruins will go away, and LA will return, and we’ll be rebuilding the statue…again.

You can always make a new character in an absolute worst case scenario (it’s account bound), I personally never deleted mine, I keep it in my inventory always lol.

That is true, and you could very well be right, however, I don’t believe that this will be the case, I think that we’ll stop Scarlet just before she gets through to the mega-nexus of ley-lines and with her last few breaths she calls us fools and explains that she was just about use it to destroy all the dragons at once or something. Maybe she’ll wheel out a projector and bring us through a presentation.
But yeah, she’s working for someone/something so we’ll see what happens when that happens it’s possible that Primordious/Another Dragon will rise up from beneath Lion’s Arch but I suspect it’s something to do with Abaddon or the other missing human gods (because I think that both the fractal research choices from the election would have both led back to Scarlet somehow).
Edit: Oh gods no, please don’t be another “ascension to godhood” machine.

I wonder if Kurt Russell will make an appearance?
Where’s a funny little story.
On the game release, the 2nd char I made was a Thief Asura I named Pliskken.
Back then I never got around to level him and he ended up with an 80 slot inventory full of account bound stuff I had no use for but didn’t wanna delete.
He’s level 6 now thanks to JPs, laurel vendor for dailies, etc.
But the only combat he ever saw was the PS intro, other than that he spent his entire life in LA, now with this update he had to make it to the Vigil keep avoid mobs that could one shot him, it was so fun I even took a scenic route.
Back on topic, I hope it’s permanently turned into a PvE map, maybe different pirate factions fighting over it.

The events don’t change, but apparently every time they change the face of a zone they don’t keep the old version. So ever Halloween and Wintersday they’re doing it from scratch. If that’s the case, and based on the fact that all the Personal Story instances in LA are occurring in burned down LA I have no reason to disbelieve it, that means they would still have to remake those areas from scratch again. Therefore, if they happen somewhere else it doesn’t matter. They just have to plop the appropriate NPCs where they need to be. It doesn’t have any effect on the events themselves though.

Honestly, I don’t believe LA should be rebuilt. I think it should become a new explorable zone where we can continue to fight Aetherblade/Molten/Toxic foes. I say that mostly for emotional reasons….in that I think it would cheapen the impact of a Living Story to say that it can be easily undone once the “story” itself is told. I think that players need to be shown that this world is truly LIVING, in that it grows and changes and makes mistakes and constantly becomes something it didn’t used to be….and in real life, what is done cannot be undone. It can be built upon, but never undone. Can a 30-year-old “undo” 10 years of growth and change and become his 20-year-old self again? Clearly, that would be silly (though some people might think it sounds wonderful, I suppose…..personally I wouldn’t do something like that for the world, and I’m older than 30!).
Does the game need a central hub city for players to congregate in? Absolutely. Does that city have to be LA, or even located in the current map location of LA? Not necessarily. I think it would be amazing for the devs to make the really BOLD choice to continue to evolve this world in new directions, not just “threaten” it with change only to undo it a short time later, like some meaningless sitcom where every problem ever imagined can be wrapped up with a neat little bow in 22 minutes….

I think the object is to break the cheap travel hub but LA is also a great gathering place before events and for map chat. The airship is too crowded with more than a dozen players and the ship is a tiny maze or I would say it was a replacement for LA’s convenience. Maybe a new “ship” will replace the current one.
