I have bag full of junk. So it’s highly likely that they will stay.
So far the only Living Story item that has been destroyed is the golem summoner from the last Halloween. Using it after halloween just deletes it.
I wish they did the same to all these items with no purpose. So I can know they have no use by double clicking them. I’m not deleting them otherwise.

I agree actually.
I feel bad if I have to destroy something. like it “might” be useful for something sometime XD.
It would be nice if at the end of an event, they gave everything a vendor value, so you gain something from them ):

I don’t agree. I keep stuff purposely as keepsakes. Going from Flame&Frost trophies to tri-color and cypher keys. The usable items are not for use. ^^

But I don’t expect blade shards (or anything else much) to just disappear. I’m half expecting them to stay available in some form but this is just guessing. I wanted several thousands to slowly (over months/years since I don’t even have maxed crafts and I refuse to buy stuff from TP) create the backpieces. My only problem is that I can’t get enough of them if they aren’t available after the patch. ;_;

Yeah. Though I’d be just fine if they let us trade them on the TP, I can’t get enough of them unless we can get them beyond the 4th.

When in doubt, trash your quest items. If they are still relevant, you will always get a new one from an NPC.
And there’s no reason to think the blade shards will simply disappear after the event is over, so you shouldn’t worry.
I’ve never known any items related to a particular release to disappear when it’s over. For a while I was keeping one useless item from every release as a souvenir but I gave up when they filled a whole bag because it was just getting impractical.
But they’re definitely not going to just disappear when they’re used to make and upgrade the Spinal Blade Pack. I suspect a lot of players are getting the materials now and planning to make them later for various reasons. (Mainly not having the gold/ascended materials/crafting levelled.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
even if there not directly available after this is over, i would think they will bring it back sometime. they made a sprocket generator, candy corn, and quartz. at some unknown point in the future they will be brought back in.
although i am still waiting for azurite to come back…

I was the same way, but having 6 20 slot bags almost completely full of junk that can’t be used by anything, I decided I was hording and deleted a lot of old event items.
Why does everyone think they’re not available after the patch? After the patch we will gain access to College Cores to change the color of the Spinal Blade backpack. Blade Shards are still part of the recipe, as far as I know, so they’ll still be important, necessary, and available.

Considering you’ll probably need at least 500 for the next spinal blade upgrade tomorrow I would say with 100% certainty they aren’t going away.

LOL … keep it to just look pretty in your bag? :P
I have 1500 shards as is, I hope they bring it in as a new collectable/crafting item, and allow trade/sell. I hate all this account bound stuff.
But if they don’t getting enough shards to make the back piece for character shouldn’t be hard.
And why make more than one back piece? there will be others brought in that you’ll likely want anyway.

At the moment I don’t think it’s about the skin, it’s about the fact that it is very nearly the cheapest back piece available for the stats (especially the exotic)
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

Exactly. I don’t like the skin at all, at least not for any of my characters, but I’m making one for all of them because I can define the stats. Also, if another skin shows up later that I like more I can always transmute it.
Unfortunately I need 425 Blade Shards per character and I have 11 characters. I’m only a few characters behind though, so that’s not bad.

I’m sure blade shards will still be dropping after tomorrow, too, because of that new boss they showed us. I have 1600 blade shards saved (500 reserved for ascending my second back piece, 425 for a third exotic, and the rest for the special color for one of the ascended). I like the skin, of course, but right, that isn’t actually why I’m getting them.
