Otherwise, you get 20 people exploiting the same event for hours with infinitely spawning mobs at a high rate and geting mad at those who actually want to finish the events.

Getting mad at someone is allowed unless! it is expressed in a rude way. In those cases just report and wait till they get banned. There is no need to change this. If people are breaking your game in the way they act just report them. They are wrong, they know they are wrong so let the system work

Someone got mad at me once. It really felt like this should be going somewhere for a moment, didn’t it? Well it isn’t, nothing else happened.

Honestly I think you’d end up regretting it if that were to happen. So on one hand people stop scaling up a certain event… on the other hand, events no longer wait around for people to show up, and if you’re ever genuinely having trouble with one but just barely hanging in there – oops! Too late, you’re so slow you might be farming, this event will self-destruct in 3… 2… 1…

No, because Anet is notorious for making griefable events where players can work towards the failure condition.

Just look at the Grenth event. How many times has it been grieved by ppl standing at Jonez, so they can keep farming the event chain every 9 min?

If the Union waypoint had a failure condition, the farmers, once seeing ppl starting taking down the walls, would work together to fail it, so as to restart the event instead of waiting for the next temple reset or guesting to another contested server.
