I was playing the Scarlet Invasion events throughout the world and it got me thinking.

Why aren’t Dragon Meta Events like that?

I mean, it could start out as a map invasion, for example, in Sparkfly Fen, where hordes of undead suddenly appear all over place, and we as the players have to defend the map from this invasion, and once we defeat this wave of undead, then Tequatl, the undead lieutenant, comes down to deal with us himself. I think that would create a much more engaging dragon event than just us, standing in a spot, dpsing down the dragon lieutenant.

It’s just an idea, but what do you guys think?

I’m pretty sure a lot of people have the same idea since the whole invasion thing started.

Problems is: Anet already announced they are going to work in “new” content and since they already showed absolutely zero interest in “revamp” and fix the older content, I wouldn’t wait for something like this to happen.

Why fix the Necromancer for free when we can charge $$$ for the Revenant

I’m pretty sure ArenaNet has mentioned that they are gonna improve the dragon metas before. And this is just an idea I thought and discussed with my fellow guildies, like you said, alot of people probably like this idea.

But then again, everyone is more into champion farming now. So I doubt many would even find the time to support this idea for even a chance that ArenaNet would look at this. :/

IMO this would be the perfect opportunity to fix the whole PvE and make everyone happy.

As a start: Remove the “Group Events” and random Champions around the world.

Nobody care for them. People farm the same events (and champs) over and over but only in very few places (like Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound).

Others places remain ignored regardless of the reward. This kill the PvE for those who just want to play the game (like myself) since Group Events sometimes are just to hard and/or tedious to solo (and some are just plain impossibles).

Then, change all big Meta-Events to work like the invasions with sightly changes:

  • Only one event at the time (if the SB is up, no other world boss should be up).
  • Make them spawn champions if there is enough people (this kind of events should be the only source of champions in the open world). This way people can farm champs and if there is not enough people, just make them spawn normal and veteran mobs so people can finish the event anyways.
  • Remove the time limit and make the event spawn mobs for a limited time. For example, mobs spawn for 30 minutes only, if you kill all mobs, then more spawn but after 30 minutes, no new mobs spawn. Then, when the last wave is defeated, the big boss can spawn (if nobody kill the last wave of mobs in say, 1 hour, then the event fail and no big boss for us).
    This way, farmers can kill champs non-stop until the time run-out without screwing those who want to finish the event.
  • Change the reward so Champs drop only T5/T6 mats (you know, things to craft the incoming ascended items and all the crap they already drop) and world bosses drop more rewarding things like exclusive skins and bigger chance for a precursors (I suppose asking for ascended item is too much :P).

Now, this may be good ideas, maybe they are awful but well, nothing can be worst than the actual system :P
