This is in response to the dynamic event “Escort Warmaster Leddron and his team to Zho’qafa Catacombs.” I really enjoy doing this questline, but apparently my server does not, so I am constantly solo’ing it. It takes quite a bit of time, and since the Jan update it has become increasingly frustrating. The reason for this is the very first Champ. Risen Abomination you encounter can break the fight at almost anytime due to his rush attack he was given. Even scaled for 1-3 people he has a rather large amount of hp, and this takes a bit of time to whittle down. Now on top of the adds(which I dont mind, its a fun fight solo), I now have to contend with a terrible rush attack that changes paths at multiple times for no reason(Ive had him literally go in a V shape during the rush, quite constantly). This causes a hugely annoying problem when he doesn’t run into a wall in the valley and runs WAAAAAY off, therefore resetting himself back to 100% hp and causing my asura warrior to shout things he didn’t learn in Rata Sum. I dont want the damage nerfed or anything of that nature, but it would be awesome if there could be a max distance he can rush before not hitting anything; somewhere between the range of 1 and “not resettng the encounter” would suffice. I know this isn’t a high priority, but it’s really taking the fun out of this questline. Thanks.

The length of the run on the champion risen abominations’ charge is a problem. I completely agree, and I actually commented on this in a thread some time ago. However, if you play a warrior, can I suggest:
-Put the signet of stamina on your bar
-Use an axe/warhorn

You can literally stand right in front of him, swing away, then dodge through him every single time he attacks, rinse, and repeat. Keep him positioned so that no matter which way he’s facing—which side of him you’re on—if he charges, he’ll most likely hit a wall, and keep up the endurance buff from the warhorn whenever it’s off cooldown. It’s not perfect, but it’s by far the easiest method I’ve found for killing these things alone. I actually prefer them alone unless people understand Frenzy, otherwise things go south quick.

If you stay in melee range and step out of the way of every attack, it will not use the rush ability as long as there is no one else out of melee range.

Also…

PSA: If you see someone soloing a champion risen abomination, don’t run into melee range, have melee pets or rez any dead NPCs. If you do, you’re just going to fail, causing the person soloing to either walk away, die or put a great amount of effort into trying to recover once you’re dead. Everytime the abomination lands a successful hit, it moves and attacks faster.

I’ve had people come in and help already. It’s not a problem if they know not to let it hit anything. But if they don’t know that—you’re right. Bad things happen very quickly.

I’ve never had a problem with the rush changing directions, but I’ve definitely encountered them going too far and resetting. To the point where i don’t bother with them anymore – it’s a lot of time and work to get him low, only to have him zoom into another room/across the map and heal to full.

Or the abom after plinx… he’s got a relatively small box that you have to keep him in or he goes immune, starts to heal, and runs back to the middle. But almost every change he does takes him outside that box.

On my server (Piken Square) the Abomination event at the end of Plinx is frequently left because it is such a pain to complete, given the tiny amount of space that the fight has to take place in before the mob goes invulnerable. I’m not saying that it can’t be done, just that it is such a funless fight that many people seem not to bother … and I can’t say I blame them.

Last time I tried to fight this miserable cuss, I was at it for about 30 minutes.. my main is an engie, crap damage output. And constantly, the stupid thing would run out of range, reset, and force me to start whittling him down all over again. For some reason almost every time I pulled him so he’d hit a wall he wouldn’t do rush, but then would resume when I moved/dodged around him and left a big gaping opening behind myself.

It eventually got to the point that I would intentionally take the rush attack just so the thing wouldn’t run out of range. But this only made things worse and after a while, I just said “screw it” and ran away.

Ain’t no one got time for that!

It only charges when you or someone else is out of melee range. Just stand right next to it, watch for the swing and step through. You should never get hit and it should also never charge.
