Can you please remove this from the Claw of Jormag event?
One fear is sufficient.
It adds nothing to the encounter and is unbelievably annoying.
It’s not a chain fear. Fear is not stackable. What happens is that he fears everyone during several seconds. If you remove the condition in those first seconds it gets re-applied. Just learn when you can remove it without getting it re-applied and your issue is solved. No need to change the boss, when it is a matter off understanding the mechanics.
It is not a matter of understanding or “learning”, it is really a matter of being chain feared, to the point that if you are close to the cannons’ area there is no way to get to the distance that let you hit the shield unless you use some skill that makes you invulnerable and manage to skip a cycle.
Even when you get there if for some reason you get pushed back to the cannons’ area the problem reappears.
Playing this event feels like watching a yo-yo. Run in – feared out; run in – feared out; run in – knocked back; wait for ice spears to stop proccing; run in – shoot 3 times – run back to shed the DoT; rinse and repeat.
As others have said it’s not a chain fear. The ability the Claw uses is a long cast fear which can fear for each tick – what’s happening is that people are using stunbreaks or condition cleanses (which removes fear) too early – before the move finishes, and getting fear reapplied.
Wait til he stops roaring before wasting your cooldowns.
He spams the fear 3-4 times in a row since the revamp .. so it is indeed like a chain fear. Add to that the falling ice that also knocks you back after the fear, and you try to run up to him 4-5 times in a row .. and yes .. its simply annoying.
Use #5 on the charrzooka. Cancel the skill about 20% into the cast bar. Repeat until the claw stops being annoying. Resume shooting at the shield.
It is indeed bugged.Just today after an attempt that failed the area behind Pact researcher Darrin (cannon’s area) is still spamming fear and Frigid Breath even if jormag is not there.

Both the flamethrower and charzooka #5 are channeled. You just click it once but it can still be cancelled while it is “activating”.

No he’ll actually do a thing where he’ll do the roar 3 times in a row now. He didn’t used to do it. Not sure if it came in with the world boss revamp or not, it was some time around then.

Also the claw does NOT use a long pulsing fear that fears per tick. That was the old Tequatl.

It came in with the update where we got the timers.
Usually standing at the top of a rangers healing ring will negate the fear.
On the other hand, the continuous fear is an annoyance. It adds nothing to the battle other than dragging things out and annoying people.
One fear is enough.. maybe followed by the incoming ice golems. Continuous "run in, fear out, run in fear out.. for several cycles really isn’t needed.
Honestly, even if I get feared fullest and don’t remove it, It is not half annoying as the red-light movement I have when running through cursed shores. CC happens, deal with it! It is an important mechanic in the game, annoying if it hits you, useful when you use it.

jormag will chain fear you, its not the long roar where you need stability he’ll do his fear roar for one attack, next is the same fear roar, and for the third time he’ll fear roar you.

The sign for the roar is clear assuming you are actually facing it. It is the only attack where it keeps both claws on the ground.

When you do this, it goes to a 3.5 second cooldown, rather than a 30 second cooldown if you let the yellow activation bar go to the end. Fire Shield can be used to shield you from the fear spam, and as Khisanth mentioned, there is a “tell”, you just have to be watching for it.
Of course, it helps to have warriors nearby shouting, “Shake it off!”, and (what I do) guardians with “Save yourselves!” to pull fear from allies around, followed by “Stand your ground!” to shake fear off the guardian. Guardians using both shouts seem to be able to remove fear from several (5-10?) nearby allies.

Almost as annoying as ice storms and embers.
At least I have 2 stun/fear breakers that I can use while fighting that dragon, also fewer people know that standing in the place where the ice spikes will land you (off to the right side of the hill) will negate the fear shout as well.

With Pure of Voice any shout is fine.
Fear converts to Stability.
If you are going to use “Stand Your Ground!” you might as well use it before the fear hits so nobody gets interrupted by it.
If I can time it right, I try to do just that. But if people close to me are not in my party, it doesn’t always buff them. Hence, SY! for them, and then SYG!.

On the subject of wishing I would start with “don’t get yourself killed by standing on blue ice” and “don’t get other people killed by pulling veterans and champions on them”.
Step #1: Go to your keybindings and set a button to toggle walk mode
Step #2: Get into position to attack the shield
Step #3: Using your keybind from Step #1, turn on walk mode
Step #4: Eat the fear, but only walk away instead of run (cutting the distance traveled)
Step #5: Toggle walk mode off and run back into position
Step #6: Repeat steps 3-5 as needed
