So there was a decent number of players doing the CoF pre-event on the bridge. Due to our large numbers, the game spawned a lot of trash mobs. This caused culling to “cloak” all the Veteran/Champion Effigies which promptly nuked everyone down while being invisible.

It was the Karka event all over again!

I can do thirty Five-Dolyak Arm Curls.

Do you even lift, bro?

Yes, this is a very serious issue right now.

Been doing some Orr temples yesterday and it was really terrible – invisible mobs, powerful attacks coming from nowhere, mobs becoming visible on only on death or suddenly appearing in the middle of defended area. Half the time I was firing my marks at the general direction of the supposed enemy without actually seeing anything, or into big balls of spell effects in which neither mobs nor players were visible. Lots of people die in those events now, but my guess it’s largely thanks to the fact no one is actually aware what’s going on.

Something must be done about it, or the most (only?) profitable open world events become the least fun ones to do – a very bad combination.

The culling is so ridiculous. After the patch, the 2 veteran acolytes beside the priestess of Dwayna now spawn an army of risen, which causes the priestess to stop rendering. This happened when I was soloing her, that is, there were no other players around!

I’ve read several supposed “fixes” in previous patches, too. Yet nothing has improved.

Hopefully they do that game-wide and not just in wvw. It’s not entirely useful in pve when you can’t see the boss because he’s being culled instead of the players.

Nothing improved in Culling, January Patch just messed everything. No culling in WvW but started to happen alot in PVE, what never happened to me.

For me each Patch, when they try to fix this, they make it worse.

FF11 had this issue too until they prioritized Mobs and your own party/guild members. It wasn’t so bad if 100 faceless people didn’t appear if all of the monsters and your own friends were still visible.

Culling can manifest even when it’s not crowded at all. Just the other day it took my pet some 3 to 4 seconds to appear (the name tag was already showing) after me getting out of the water. That was in Orr open world, only a few mobs standing around.
