I’m wondering if having a dedicated MF set is still worth it since the patch.

The MF set was only really useful for farming mass-spawn events in Orr like Pinx, Arah and all the camps with lots of other people.

But subjectively I feel there are a lot less rares dropping from regular mobs now than there were before the patch. I know Veterans are supposed to drop more, but I’m not noticing that.

In fact, the FotM and Dungeons seems to be a much better source of rares now, which is probably why you find less people farming Orr nowadays. And I won’t be using MF in Dungeons any time soon.

I was wondering if anyone had some more objective data regarding farming with MF since the patch. Maybe nothing really changed…but that’s something I find hard to believe. Btw. this is only about rares. I don’t care about blue or green drops.

But if a dedicated MF set means finding 2 rares and hour, rather than 1, I don’t think it’s worth it.

Ditto. Patch on 15th Nov said assured drops from Veterans/Champions…..yes, like a porous bone from Arah champ…..Posted a thread, seems there is no response from Anet.

Haven’t been doing dungeons as no regular group and dislike pugs. Noticed the last couple of days tho, no people outside HoW or CM. No one. A month ago there were people everywhere outside CM looking for groups.

It seems objectionable to have included MF in game at all.
Couple of days ago at Jormag someone was saying they had armour/food/BCTP MF boots to get one rare. That they would introduce such a game mechanic and use it as a source of income on store seemsthat Anet is following an unfortunate path attempting to copy business models from other mmo’s.

I have farmed a lot at Penitent camp and Shelter(when its not bugged) in Cursed shore with over 130% and i noticed a huge drop rate decrease since the last patch.

I have also farmed at other locations for T6 materials with and without a dedicated MF set and noticed that whatever the loot drop rate is, does not affect Mats. I have farmed in a group and solo and my team mates who didn’t have any MF or very little, had gotten a fraction of what i was getting, over multiple sessions.

In both cases of farming for rares and/or mats, i was hit by the DR within 1-2 hours which seemed to reset within 1-2 hours, regardless. You know when the DR hits from the huge drop of porous bones.

In fewer words, yes a MF set makes a big difference regardless of what kind of drops you are going for. What seems to have changed is the rare item drops, which seems to have been at least halved. Mats seem to drop the same for me.

I don’t have any statistics or anything, this is just an observation over many farming sessions.
