Just my humble opinion. It would be awesome to fight him outside, with dozens of players. You can make him flee away at the end, instead of dying (and justifying why he was that “weak” during the dungeon).

What do you guys think? Would be awesome to fight Zhaitan on a world event, or he should be unique to Arah, his dungeon?

I really wish zhaitan had a mega event.

I think playing off the mega event, it should’ve been a series of having the Orr, and other regions use DE’s to gather the resources to build cannons and tanks to fight Zhaitan. These Events could take a week or two to get ready and once it was all ready it would be a struggle to hold the ground to build the siege weapons and tanks and cannons. Then have a finale event that’s announced server wide, that has people scaled to level 80 to help fight zhaitan. You’d have a force taking him head on, while others hold off an army, and by army I don’t mean like 14 mobs that spawn, like 100’s of mobs from the weapons. The Zhaitan event in your story was a joke and a real slap in the face to the players from Anet, I literally felt let down by them with that weak fight.

One of his generals? Like his highest commander? Or maybe Zhaitan himself, but we don’t kill him. Only weaken him, and in the mega event we fight a weakened Zhaitan.

You ignored that the OP said that he would flee after the Dynamic Event, justifying how “weak” he is.

He could show up at the end of a huge event chain and spawn 2(!) dragon bosses.
So that you get to see him, but not directly fight him.
I never understood, why we don’t get to fight any Dragons in Orr, especially after seeing tons of them in the last dungeon with Zhaitan.

Considering how broken Orr’s dynamic events are I’d say the dev team was pretty busy even without worrying about adding world bosses to Orr.

A good content patch to add, though. We definitely need more dragon world-bosses.

Well… the thing is dynamic events involving Zhaitan are probably not there for the sake of immersion. Right now, Zhaitan dies from what I understand (to be fair, I am intentionally avoiding Orr on my current characters as much as possible), so he can not be directly present in DE’s because then it would be inconsistent for players who already beat Arah.

So, to put it differently, in order for Zhaitan to be directly a part of any Dynamic Event (which I would like), he can not ever die completely, only be wounded and recover. It’s the same reason why most world boss dragons, fall into sea or some other thing as such, so that we can not see what happens to their body, so that they can be back later.

Well, I don’t know about Shatterer (because he is, well unique, based on something individual that presumably lived once), but Shadow Behemoth is something that I could imagine being able to be reproduced by whoever is responsible for the first one (the name is certainly generic enough, same as the Jungle Wurm in the sylvari starting area).

The key difference is, an Elder Dragon is unique, there can be only one, of each… all these others are something born somewhere, either from the power of said Elder Dragons (directly or indirectly) or as a part of a species (mutated by the elder dragons or something to that effect etc).

In any case, it all comes down to the fact that according to ANet’s original manifesto, I highly doubt they would want the player to feel like: “hey, I just killed that guy 3 days ago” of course in practice it will still happen, but Zhaitan is iconic and while we can re run dungeons, that is immersion broken by player choice, not by the game just spawning the games big bad, unannounced, that you already beat.

Just fix the fight in the Story mode, and make it epic, not like it’s now, that will be enough.

Yeah if maybe they fixed it, that fight was pathetic and really says something about the amount of effort or lack there of that they put into that fight. I honestly felt like I could put my 2 year old cousin in front of my keyboard and they could’ve downed him.

If Zhaitan was a world event. It wouldn’t make sense at all to the storyline, so no.

the storyline doesnt make sense anyway,how the hell did they even manage to kill it with just some cannon fire.its suppose to be some mythical creature yet it dies so easily.that would imply they we can kill the gods in the same way.at least give us some epic boss fight with it or something

How do you know Zhaitan was really killed? DU DU DUUUUUUUUUHHHHHH
The cannon thing is… odd. Atleast spawn some mobs on your ship and have other ships come and help. and during the process he can be shaking the entire thing so you might fall off if you are close to the edge. That woul be much more interesting… not saying it is bad now but I just want more.

Ok this is just an assumption, as I have not done the Arah Dungeon as of yet. So I don’t know just how “Weak” Zhaitan is. BUT!, isn’t it supposed to be like that ?. Think back to the story leading up to his fight. You cut off his supply of Magic and also his food supply.
This mean he was trying to ragain his strength. The plague of dead are not there just to fight, but also do Zhaitan’s dirty work, because he is either weak and can’t do what needs to be done himself, or… He is being a typical Overlord/Tyrant and just being a lazy git. I see him as just coming out of a kinda hybernation state, by the time you get to him, so he should be kind of " Weak ". I don’t know how the end of the encounter with him goes, but is he actually dead!.

I do like the idea of seeing him in the world as an encounter or even a close encounter. One of those unforseen moments when you are on your own. And he apears out of nowhere to mock the new Hero of the moment. A moment that brings new meaning to fear and the power of a Eldar Dragon. That’s just my take on things though.

All I think is this:

I hate to ask for content patches from a game that is largely based on a buy to play content model. But we definitely need more DE’s, with more impact in the world, and more STORY SIGNIFICANT DE’s. Also I believe DE’s do need to change based on the players (not just scale up in numbers based on the number of players.)

I wouldn’t have minded Zhaitan simply flying in the sky, or brushing the side of the coast during one of the DEs.

One disappointing thing is that Zhaitan’s size was hyped to be 3x the size of The Shatterer.

However, when you fight him, he seems so tiny because he’s so far away and you’re on a huge ship yourself.

I would have liked to see him tease the player more.

Of course, before doing any of these super-DEs, I hope they fix the crazy mobs in Orr, and especially cursed shore. Enemies are so strong that they are a hassle to fight one by one so many times, and even if you do fight them, they respawn so fast that there’s no point! So you’re forced to run past them!
