Dynamic events and player controlled bosses

One of the things I’ve always thought would make dynamic events more interesting is a human-controlled boss. We got a taste of this in one of the BWEs with the crystalline dragon event. The event type would randomly be added to a script to ensure that no one really knows when or where it is going to happen. An event that gets escalated to a human-controlled event would receive a chest reward much like the zone boss events. The boss or bosses could also receive individual item via the UI based reward indicator with something appropriate to their performance.
Events would have to occur in capture point areas with the idea to restrict the boss to the event area in an effort to prevent griefing anywhere in the zone. If the PC leaves the area then the boss would become an NPC and the PC would forfeit their additional reward.
There could be a few type of boss encounters. The one I think most players may already be familiar with since it is used in heart quests and in the personal story would be polymorphed PCs that take on special skills. Another type of encounter could be the player receives a buff that grants numerous stats to bring them up to Champion / Legendary level. They keep all of their abilities and their pets get buffed as well. The player could still be visibly changed to reflect their new status ( look undead, look crystalline ) and enlarged to make them easy to locate.
Depending on the number of players participating in the event, the system may opt to flag multiple Veteran PCs instead of a single Champion PC. If enough people are around it could throw multiple Champions.
There would need to be some sort of opt-in system to becoming an enemy champion. While not everyone gets to be the boss, it would spice up the event, increase their difficulty in theory and has the chance to put your PvP skills to the test in PvE with a reward waiting at the end.
