Dynamic events unpleasant (jormag/maw/etc)
After the first time, all these events are boring. People only do them for the bonus chest. They need total redesign.
I don’t find them boring at all, though I’ve stopped doing Jormag because waiting for an hour plus for him to spawn IS very boring.
Punishment? What a total misuse of the word. They are making it FAIR. You yourself admit it was farmable and that people took advantage of it. Well Arenanet did the most reasonable thing and increased the timer. You only feel ‘punished’ because you feel that you are entitled to 1-3 rares every 30 minutes.
Regarding Jormag, it’s not Arenanet’s fault that you do not know how to do the metaevent You are discouraged from hitting the dragon on the 2nd phase while his ice shield is up. They do this by applying dots on you. If you die from it, it’s your own fault. They want you to defend the golems and destroy the icicles like the event was designed to be.
And if you leave the game just cause they ‘nerfed’ a massively farmable meta event, or because you don’t want to properly do an event then all the power to you. Arenanet can’t do anything to satisfy you.

Everyone waiting with me at Maw right now is saying the same thing OP. Not sure what anet is thinking making fun things to do in game unbearable. We’re all still waiting here for it still, but now we’re waiting an hour+ random time. They should think about making things more fun not less.
You know, there are tools in place (dragontimer) to know when and where events are starting. Your own fault if you’re standing in place for hours at a time. And there’s no issue with the new times, there’s no reason the game should be giving you free rares for standing in place and hitting our “1” key over and over. There are other events outside dragons and the Maw, and jumping puzzles. Rewarding challenges, go figure. Also, learn to use the space. The hill to the right of Jormag isn’t the only spot on the map.
As an engineer, I stay in a spot closer to him, destroy crystals, and nuke him when he’s down, and there’s rarely anyone around me, and somehow I still manage to stay alive.
The events are starting to fit their namesake, they’re closer to Dynamic, and that’s a step in the right direction.
If you get hit by icy grave in Clawmag at all you’re part of the reason its such an ‘unbearable’ fight. The real damage is done by stunning him, which is done by killing the pillars and elementals on the ledges. The only time you’ll ever see icy grave is when it starts up after a stun phase, in which case it’s your signal to gtfo.
Stop standing on the ledge, dieing from the dot damage and help clear the ice pillars.
Last Clawmag I did, I noticed a cluster of fallen player signs on my minimap – people on that kitten ledge eating the snow, with only a handful of us helping the golems. Boggles the mind.

What exactly do you find fun about autoattacking a giant mob for 3-30 mins?

If you stand there and autoattack, you’re doing it wrong.
It’s a giant dragon(or fire elemental, or shadow thingy or golem or whatever), it’s cool looking and you get to kill it with a whole bunch of people! If you don’t understand why that’s cool and fun, I’m guessing you’re playing the game like it’s a job and not like it’s a game. How many CoF runs you do per day?

you’re supposed to be protecting the golems instead of hitting the flying chicken
all those events are definitely worth doing: easy ectos + chance for precursor
Maw should run frequently, every 30 minutes with ONE account bound chest.
1) this would get rid of the frustrating wait for it.
2) this would thin the crowd, they would get their chest and leave. Now there is a big crowd of people, all waiting and waiting and waiting for it.
3) by thinning the crowd, the fight becomes more balanced. At this point, the crowds build up so much, the event ends a very few (3?) minutes after it begins. If you go to the portals, the champion is at half health before you even get back.
4) by thinning the crowd the low level people, the ones who this event are truly meant for, can experience it the way it’s supposed to be.
5) by having the event run more often, then people who are leveling and have already gotten their chest, can run it again just for the exp.
If there were only one account bound chest, there would be no reason not to run this event frequently and several reasons to do so.
