Soloed it already, no change needed.

You do realize, that he was actually much easier to do solo than in groups? The number of ember spawns depended on number of participating players, and after they passed certain threshold, they were able to just cover the whole floor with lava fonts. And they didn’t despawn when players died, of course, so you could end up alone against 30+ embers on your tail. Most large groups i have seen doing him just eventually defaulted to kamikaze tactics – no skill or subtlety, just brute force approach.

seems he was fixed now i can actually Dodge meteors and such without landing into 20 more sooo thumbs up Anet. this group boss was insane for a lvl 1-15 zone.

I think it’s a hilarious and fun event despite the high deathtoll. Rewards could be upped ever so slightly though. Didn’t need a nerf at all.

I wonder now if something as simple as a second access route would help. I see people trying to jump along the side wall from time to time, but that is a dead end. Having a second path in would avoid the clumping of lava fonts and such on the bridge where most of the trouble occurs. Usually because someone pulls a Leeroy and come back trailing a bunch of embers. Never mind that the ground flare reaches half way across the thing, and is hard to spot with the elemental in the background, the embers flapping about, and the lava fonts.

I don’t know what character profession you’re playing, but having a thief or two (maybe more) with the AOE cloaking healing skill (ground targetable by the way) ..
will break the enemy lock on you and give you a chance to revive your allies. Even if it means stopping and retreat to safety before you decloak allowing the skill to recharge.
At least this tactic will give you a chance to get everyone back on their feet in case of a “near” party wipe.
