Guild Bounty Overflows
There’s actually an easy way around this if you have guild members already in the normal (non-overflow) zone. Although it won’t help you if you all join and nobody gets in the normal zone.
Here’s how it works, the people in the normal zone drop their party, and have the individuals in the overflow join their party, then join in (right click the name of the person in the normal zone) on the individuals in the normal zone, thus by-passing the queue time to get in the non-overflow server. While this is probably not intended by ArenaNet, it is a way to bypass overflows if any of your members happen to have gotten in early enough to the normal server.
Hope that tip helps in the future, and of course hope ArenaNet addresses the issues around guesting and the current group event issues.
That is incorrect actually. While it is true you can join a party member in their overflow, you are NOT able to join them if they are in the home world and it is full. You will just receive a message saying that it’s full and you cannot join.
At this time this would be a pretty big issue that not only is preventing players from participating in their own server’s events, but even guild bounty events.
Here’s hoping Arenanet can do something about this issue sooner than later, as it only seems to be getting worse.

It won’t work if home server location is already full. And that’s what happens when we have a dragon spawning window open in some locations.
Thanks for the info, docMed.
We do know of the Join Overflow function and obviously would make use of it in this situation, but unfortunately, with the increased population on certain maps during dragon spawn windows, that typically becomes an exercise in futility.
I’ve given this some thought overnight and have realised that only two of the targets are genuinely affected by this (Michiele and Teesa) and it would be a simple thing to simply avoid bounty hunting in the spawning window.
But not in Frostgorge. With the Claw having a 1 hour 15 minute spawn window we are effectively blocked from completing the Teesa bounty for an inordinately large amount of time.
It would be great if we could have someone from the top just weigh in on this thread to let us know that this is being looked into.
same problem in our guild, today we lost T3 guild bounty because last boss was in Frostgorge and we all ported to overflow
Anet should remove guild bounty bosses from locations where dragons spawn
I often join into overflows and then join in on the spawning server with the above method - unless there are different limits based on how you get put in overflow vs a server’s truly max population (e.g. a server can hold 250, but at 200 begins putting individuals into overflow) that I’m not aware of and am just getting lucky?
this thread is not about how to join spawning server when you are playing alone, its pretty easy
this thread is about how to port all guild (25+ ppl doing guild bounty) from overflow to spawning server while you have only one member tracking bounty boss
