Harathi Hinterlands Meta Event
Most of the world boss Meta Events are extremely cool. Unfortunately 90% of the playerbase only takes part on the last boss fight when they see it ping up on the event tracker websites.
Almost all areas have a world boss event associated with them, so keep your eye out. Meta events are shown on your screen on the right when you are somewhere in the vicinity of the area and then you can check the map where the action is currently.

Do they track the events when they start?

Sea of Sorrows, a server never before so appropriately named.

This is the main website for tracking events. It is dependent on people doing the event and then updating, but it is usually fairly accurate.
I still go back and do it every now and again, my favourite in the game

PuG Commander, blobbing it up since 2012!
I agree totally.
I did it for first time 2 days ago and it was awesome. In my case there was only 1 guy doing the first events. Then he disappeared but another guy showed up. Then again, he disappeared but another one appeared.
After the Champion War Beasts, more players started to showed up until we were like 7 or 8 but still it was very enjoyable.
Much better than the piñatas we have in other places.

The Harathi Hinterlands chain ending in killing of Ulgoth is/was and probably will be one of my favorite things in this game.
It was the first time that I ran into such a large scale event, not to mention that it was the first time I saw so many players in one place at the same time. I remember repeating it over and over again when I found it. It was tons of fun. Still is.
Harathi Hinterlands and Balthazar are probably the best event chains in the entire game.

No, and that’s the problem. They only show up when the last event (which gives the daily chest) starts.
I guess it is still good in a way that they bring enough people to finish the meta event. With 3 people around it would be a pain to bring ulgoth down.
harathi eventchain is pretty much the best meta event. the full chain is pretty long, try it right after a server reset (patch), when you have to push all the way through all the camps etc – usually you just have to defend/capture northwatch/southwatch or what it’s called, then edwards starts the invasion.
only downside of the event are two very cheap mechanics: the instakill phoenixes from modnir ulgoth and the consta knockdown tornados. guess the devs didn’t know what to do anymore or had no time to do something cool, so they just did the cheapest possible move they could. really a shame, otherwise the bossfight is really fun and well made.
if you liked this event, try the ogre eventchain in fields of ruin (starts just northeast of spotters waypoint, which is next to ebonhawke).
you can solo your way through most of the event, the 2 champs in the middle of the chain can be a bit tough though, ask in mapchat if you need help.
while they still haven’t fixed ogres to not stack weakness for minutes, the event is really fun if it doesn’t bug out (after the second champ you should go destroy their houses. this follow up event can take up to a minute to start, but sometimes it just doesn’t and the event only unbugs after a server reset) and with 4 champs lootbags total, a sidechest with a guaranteed yellow as well as a normal chest with a few blues/greens plus tons of mobdrops it feels actually rewarding, compared to all the nerfed events (which were overfarmed, but still).

the one on gw2stuff.com is a lot more userfriendly and gets updated more frequently – though the guildwarstemple one finally uses the event api as well, afaik.
