Horace Scailing/Duke Barradins
That whole meta-event is a mess, scaling-wise, and the ghosts that precede him are almost as tough as he is.
I simply got on my Regen Ranger and outlived him while the real lowbies behind me slowly killed Horace. It’s really Binary, just get a level 80 with stacking regen skills and some Endurance Boost food to dodge half his Fireballs. (& instantly lose the burning condition when they hit).
…if you want a nearby lowby event that truly is impossible even for level 80’s, check out that one near the Decimus stones after you blow them up where you have to try and defend some super flimsy ash legion Tents from Mages & Monks with FOEFIRE who usually auto-cast it right on the tents the instant they spawn. ….oh and they just instantly spawn within casting range too. No walking like every other “attack wave” mob in the game… Great design, huh?

It’s meant to fail, I think. To reset the event circle. There’s a few of the “always fail” events.
If you have at least five people on the decimus stone guarding the camp whatever it’s called thing, it isn’t too hard to beat as long as people arent running back and forth trying to tag -every- ghost. It really should be marked as a group even though.
Horace /Duke Barradin are nuts though, I will definitely grant you that. Especially if you don’t have a level 80 there.
Even if it’s a group event, Horace can be done solo. As he throws fireballs, you have to “wiggle” your character so that his fireballs miss, and dodge at the appropriate moment as he casts Flame Burst. He can pull you and drop rocks so make sure you have stability skills.
Why is Duke Barradin mentioned though? Isn’t that the champion with a “Mega boss” final form in Charr tutorial mission?

I think that is because the area is Barradin’s Tomb.
