Yesterday I read this and this post.
And while playing I came up with a interesting idea. I’m sure you already had some ideas like that, but who knows… :-)

I created a new topic because I would like to make clear this has nothing to do with precursors discussion I refered to, but of course it would also be an option. However:

People actually need something as reward to enjoy gaming. Now there is Karma, EP and Money and very rare drops. But you always get the same amount out of every event. So why should you move on to the next?

1) You introduce a new kind of token: a “World-Token”
2) For every small event/veteran you receive one, for every chain up to – lets say – three.
3) Now the trick is that you receive a token just once every two weeks or even month with a 100% probability for each of those events. If you repeat the event you can get one by random – maybe like the rare drop rates, salted with some crazy DR algorithm. ;-)
4) Now you create vendors that exchange those tokes into all kind of different stuff, like the consumables or any kind of “fun” items. As also for some more rare items. After all that would be up to you and it could be just absolute everything.
5) In addition you introduce very rare/interesting and of course expensive monthly items.
6) To circumvent the 250 stacks problem you can exchange tokens 1 to 10 and vice versa.
7) Everything is account bound. So you could say this month everyone can get Imryldyeen, but since it is account bound it would not influence economy for very long. This rewards should only reward playing content and absolute nothing else.
8) Also you can exchange this “World-Tokens” against Dungeon-Tokens, but at a level that is so low, that it is much easier to do dungeons instead. (Just to attach a lot of great content to those tokens)

In conclusion you could say that if there would be a reward that is only given once over a “long” period with some very interesting stuff as exchange reward and also monthly variation like with Nicholas Sandford people would have a reason to run around all of Tyria – even in starting zones.

You have created the content – now you just need to attach a reason to play it again and again and again!
