Is Leaving Events Early An Exploit?
I dont see it as an exploit. It just means you wont get any loot for that event’s end other than the karma etc. Seems odd to call leaving one event to go do one you prefer doing an exploit :S
It makes no sense at all to call that an exploit.
I’ve sometimes gotten gold/bronze/silver without even knowing it.
I was just passing by or minding my own business.
If indeed what you are doing is exploiting, then a lot of people are guilty of exploiting by complete accident and out of their control.
Arenanet would be very foolish to call it exploiting. They would alienate most people.
The is Anet we’re talking about, just playing the game is considered an exploit.
Anyway, why would you consider it an exploit? If you were actually doing enough to earn a reward, then you deserve to get it. Doesn’t matter if you leave early or not. It may not be good manners, but it isn’t an exploit.
Sometimes I leave the event unfinished intentionally, so that other players can finish the remaining part to get their rewards. Well, only when I expect someone to come before I leave that map. It is all up to the players. If it is hard for the remaining players I would never leave half way.
Some player leaves the event thinking they have done enough. I don’t blame them because some events really need balancing. The real problem is, almost every event gives same reward regardless of their difficulty and required time. Some needs a long time (especially escort events) but some need shorter time. Some are easy but some are real difficult. They should not give exactly the same reward. And that is why people stay in specific area to farm because those are easy and efficient, others are not.
I generally find myself only half completing escort events without a point. For instance, “get mechant X to town Y”. I’ll do enough to get a gold then go to a more interesting event elsewhere. I think this is more a problem of not enough interesting things happening in these events, really. The most memorable one I can thing of was in Caledon Forest, oddly enough, and had your guide wander through an area with enemies on high hill, bandits creating roadblocks that had to be destroyed, and a pair of catapults at one point. Instead, most events are just waves of generic enemies that don’t really do anything to make you want to see it through to completion. Especially if you’ll get gold just for fighting off one or two waves and moving on to something that’ll give more enjoyment.
Everything is an exploit if its been developed incorrectly, you haven’t heard bro?
Dont be going into events attacking for 20 seconds then running away to find more events, das bannable.
No. Because you will be rewarded accordingly.
It’s not an exploit, but I’d imagine leaving one event to do another in back-to-back for a short period of time could trigger diminishing returns faster than sticking around for the entirety of the event.

The events only need you to kill 3 mobs for gold. They really need a platinum ranking to encourage ppl, maybe even ranks 1 2 and 3 get the best loot. They did this is a couple of other games. Just don’t have a meter that shows your progress and who’s winning, people tend to find abilities that are weighted too high.
Is hitting an enemy mob someone else is fighting but only doing enough damage to get credit for the kill and then leaving early an exploit? Seems a lot like what your saying for an event so why would it be an exploit when the game was designed that way?
