While i love group events i am starting to find the ones in Kessex hills and Snowden drifts not worth my time . While population in these zones are low I do not think its the sole problem. Risk versus rewards seem to be the problem. For example, while in Kessex me and a small group of people fought the cyclops for 10+ minutes. I was determined to see it through. After several deaths the cyclops finally fell. Afterwards my repair costs were high and my reward was an item worth about 50 copper. So after this when someone yelled “Cyclops up!” I just kept on pursuing my dailies. My recommendation is to put a chest in for these group events or scale them to the number of players.

I would like them to scale up the Karma rewards on lower level maps to spread out the current PLinx fest that is going on.

That Krait witch sure needs a chest full of rares for how hard it is to get people to take part.

Better karma scaling for downleveled players is a great idea. It should go hand in hand with better downscaling of fully equipped 80s though, because sub-50 content is really trivial currently. If they dont find a good balance there you will have 150 players camping the meta event chains in the newbies zones.

Personally I’d rather be rewarded raw chunks of crafting materials for low-level group events. The requirements for some crafts (such as Armorsmithing) are so high that unless you dedicate yourself to acquiring the necessary ores entirely, you won’t be wearing things you’ve crafted by yourself at the appropriate level. You’re always behind.

Throwing 10 copper ore at us for defeating the Troll in Queensdale, for example, would be delicious and motivating. I like the crafting system but don’t like how demanding it is before you’re above level 60 (I feel it is almost unnecessarily so).

You cant just go and take the karma rewards out of the low level zones, because not everyone wants to equip themselves through crafting. I did crafting at first until I run into a fine component bottleneck, and then switched to karma gear for 20-50ish. That wouldnt have been possible without early event karma, and more ore wouldnt have solved my weak blood bottleneck either.

I see the core of your post more as a “review crafting requirements or node frequency in for lower levels” which belongs into another subforums so I wont go into it here, but to some extent I do agree with it (not with your proposed solution though).

Yeah except I wasn’t talking about that in the slightest, not even remotely. It’s cool if you want to snap at me though.

I was commenting on the idea of chests and loot rewards aka a physical reward for your trouble, you know, because it’s what was brought up in this topic’s opening post.

I very much agree with this, I was always very behind on crafting (even on my second character because I had to sell materials for money). I’d rather receive a bag of consumables (less butter though, please!)

Just something more interesting than vendor trash. Could be a chance for black lion keys, crafting recipe, a temporary buff, account bound cooking ingredients… Doesn’t have to reward it every time or even give a lot of it, just knowing there’s a chance you’ll get something nice would make me happy

And NPCs could become available as different things instead of always a karma merchant / vendor. If you escort a trading caravan, why doesn’t the NPC become a Trading Post npc? If an NPC wanted help gathering skale eggs, he could become a Master Cook and provide a cooking station. And so on, and so on.

Yeah. I think leaving zone-appropriate karma rewards alone is good, but then if the player is above-level adding in a chance for some crafting material would be a good way to get higher-level players spread out through the zones. And the gold for an event should definitely cover the expected repair cost – ANet can’t get this exactly, but a little tweaking would be nice.

Overall, all group events and champions in th game need to get their rewards rebalanced.

I can’t count how many times I’ve seen people leaving annoyed when they’ve fought a champion or during a group event for a very long time, and after that there isn’t even a chest to open, and the champion’s corpse has just a white or nothing at all.
