So as always I’m doing my orich farm today and there is a place in Malchor’s Leap that I enjoy going to. I just go there and afk for a bit while I some research or something. Usually no one goes there cause there is no poi there, no skill challenge, no mobs, nothing. Just some broken walls and a blood stained altar with skulls with glowing eye sockets carved in the middle of the altar. So usually I just /sleep on the altar while I do something else like search TP or read something on the net. And today I wanted to take a screenshot of the place so I did /kneel at the altar for an epic screenshot but the second I typed /kneel a veteran ghost appear named Veteran Karas the Undying I believe, and said “Who disturbs my rest?” and the light in the skulls vanished and he started to attack. This was just wow… who would have thought my special resting place is actually special and I could die there by afking cause there is a ghost there! Luckily no one comes here nor do they know how to trigger the secret event. It’s not really rewarding but really refreshing.

Knowing Anet I can bet world is full of stuff like this, for people who actually take a moment to explore game instead of just grind obvious content.

I found another place like this. its not marked as an event or anything although it was a POI.
The only to know that something is up is to talk to the NPC standing by the bear Shrine. i think it was a bear shrine…

Anyway kneeling in front of the shrine brought the bear spirit out for a fight which then gave me event reward.

I thought it was an interesting effect. I get rewarded for talking to NPCs and figuring out the story puzzel.

There are several altars around the world that are triggered by /kneel. There’s one in Hirathi as well.

/kneeling was always a way to summon spirits/gods at shrines in gw1. It’s pretty good. I have yet to find a dungeon entrance sadly doing it this way. Was awesome in gw1.
