My Tequatl rant
He spawns roughly every hour, you don’t have to wait 3 hours just be there around when his window starts.

Teq only dies after reset on my server. At any other time the area is empty.

If the OP’s post was too long to bother reading, why respond?
@OP: ANet is not going to fix overflows, nor are they going to change the Teq event.
They should allow us to choose an overflow, and queue up for it, if it is full. It’s really a pain to spam “join in Sparkfly” hundreds of times until you finally make it into the right overflow, and have a chance to beat Tequatl.

I can only assume you are talking about Desolation based on time of day and queues. If not I’d like to direct some attention towards that particular server anyways.
For weeks now Desolation has become the defacto Tequatl kill server post-reset. We are absolutely inundated with guests from around Europe giving us queues at or past midnight. The people who do guest are often rude and don’t seem to care that they are forcing actual people on Desolation into the queue. It has only gotten worse in the last few weeks with a 30min-1hr lead time mandatory to get into the main instance. Something seems very wrong if we have enough people using (I’d argue abusing) the guesting system to this extent.
My suggestions would be to either:
1. Remove world event loot from guesting players. Just removal of the large chest would probably suffice.
2. Prioritize people actually located on the world over guests for queue purposes leaving loot intact.
I’m on Auroraglade myself, and we regularly schedule Tequatl kills. But of course everyone wants to join, and one overflow can only contain that many people. So often people hope that someone drops, so they can squeeze into a full server. Of course this means having to spam that join button constantly.
None of this would be needed, if we had a way to select overflows, and could see which ones were the fullest. This would allow us to select the second fullest overflow, and arrange another Tequatl kill there. But right now overflows are completely invisible to us. We can only join the party of someone, and try to join their overflow in the hope of making it inside. So I would suggest the following solutions:
- Allow us to see a list of all available overflows for the explorable we are in, and join the one we want. (Like selecting districts in GW1)
- Allow us to queue up for any overflow that is full, so we don’t have to spam join constantly. (Like joining a WvW area if it’s full)
- Allow us to see the population of each overflow, so we can see which one is full, and which one is nearly full. Since there is no point in joining a nearly empty overflow for Tequatl.

How to beat Tequatl.
1: find out who is organising organised Tequatl attempts on your server.
2: stay tuned on their info when they do it
3: get there in time
4: kill Teq and success
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Even though I’m a member of TTS, I still think all the hoops we have to jump through to get a Teq kill is a mess. I’d prefer it if Tequatl was adjusted so he scales better for less players. If he’s killable by, say, 10 – 20 people who know what to do, I bet we wouldn’t see so much queuing after reset, or servers where Tequatl has basically been abandoned altogether.
I think Teq should scale better.
Currently EU peeps on NA servers get a raw deal – so do NA peeps on EU servers.
It is really hard for them to organise a large group across the entire world base to get a Teq kill.
Many servers are only doing once at reset (if you are lucky).
Consistently right now you almost need a “hard map cap” for a win. A “soft map cap” is almost no guarantee for a win.
There is no reason that 50-80 players in this zone should be unable to kill Teq. As it stands I doubt that even 80 people in the map would be able to kill Teq.
I literally just posted on this over here:
