Nerf of big events rewards
Anet motto: if it aint broke, nerf it!

Overflows mostly calmed down anyways.
They’re nerfing it based on the pbase reaction the first week or so….
Oblyth, Mes ~ Nadeshiko Naito, War ~ Hwertu, Gua
Evenree, Necro (M) ~ Ran Still Died, Thief
come on, read the post again
they only nerf em for ppl that have alts at lvl80 that do every single events on several toons, if u do events normally on the main toon, you wont notice any different.

Most people have more than one 80 that they were using to do events on. Myself included.

The game should never be about parking a character in front of a big monster spawn with a weight pressing down on the auto-attack key. I think the separate 1/day rare drop chest is a great idea and should be added to more places.
How about adding this kind of thing to:
- WvW tower/keep capture
- Dungeon or Fractal completion
- Map completion (make the reward’s items but not the crafting mats scale to your level)
I’m glad this is getting nerfed. It took me too much time getting all the ectos on all the different toons. Thank you Anet!
Everybody talks about prices of ecto here, but let me add to it a bit.
1. Prices of globs may go up, simply because the supply is going to be limited, and demand is still high due to crafting, for example;
2. Some events may be much harder to complete, because less people will take part in them;
3. There possibly may be much less people online, because part of their playing style was crafting & selling, while others preferred trading. In both cases there are less resources to play with, and it’s more difficult for a regular player to earn gold ingame to afford paying higher prices for made products;
4. Less people online may have an impact on small & mid sized guilds, struggling at the moment with influence needed for guild missions;
5. Less people online is less fun, as a lot of us enjoys the ingame socializing.
Well, the scenario could be totally different (‘and now let’s talk about something totally different’, like Monty Python used to say):
1. Ecto prices will go up, then down, and stabilize on a certain level, feasible for everybody;
2. More people will start playing (actually – more accounts) to farm rares from events. Some would probably call them bots;
I am really curious how this economy change will impact on player’s behaviour.

This…haven’t hit an overflow in days if not longer, even for primetime events.
I can’t complain though, I’ve only been doing events on one alt so ecto prices going up means more profit for me. I did like the lower ecto prices though, ectos for the people!
so no more exotics from mega boss chest just rares from another chest
Thank god they are nerfing it. I have one level 80 and was hitting overflow every time I tried an event or had to get there 30 minutes early (and sometimes still hit overflow). Screw that.
Once per day is plenty per account is plenty.
This announcement makes me so kitten happy! Hopefully we will finally see a drop in the stupid zergs that make bosses unplayable. And the average player wont be affected by this. This is the solution we suggested, its the solution we got, and I for one will give kudos to Anet for it!
I hope that this will encourage players to spread out and do a wider range of events. People have reported that the Hydra Queen event chest has a guarenteed rare, but it seems that people aren’t really doing it, because of its complexity. Same thing with the Orr temples: after an initial surge of activity, they’re back to being contested all the time (though granted part of that is due to events getting bugged on some servers) because the temple invasion event chains take over half an hour and have a non-zero chance of failure. And that makes sense: if you wanted to maximize your rewards, why would you go to an event that takes 30-45 minutes when you could just swap to an alt and do Maw again to get the same loot in 5 minutes? If you have multiple characters, it is a lot more efficient to go do popular events multiple times, than to try to hit all events that drop a chest.
By limiting each event’s major reward to once per day per account, people will have greater incentive to go the more neglected events in order to compensate for the limit per event. With the greater incentive to do varied events, we might even find more big chests out there, like how the Golem Mark II event was discovered a couple weeks ago. I do suspect there are more out there, because Plains of Ashford is conspicuously the only starting zone that doesn’t have a big banner event we know of, like Queensdale’s Behemoth or Wayfarer’s Maw.
Anyway, I will be very happy if this change leads to a more even distribution of players across the open world, because there are lots of great events out there, and right now it’s sad that nobody is doing them.
Edit: Also, I’d like to point out that there are, at this point, 14 known events that give guarenteed rares. I usually have time to do about 15 events across 2 of my 80s per day, so in theory, I could get almost as many rares per day after the patch as before.
