Okay, any excuse for removing loot in CS?
For the longest time I didn’t want to give into conspiracy theories but…
it seems right now that Arenanet wants us to make gold by selling gems.
If Arenanet allows you to make gold too easy in game, then they don’t make much money.

Farming spots are a problem because of the way loot works. Let’s say 1 person can kill 1 mob every minute, gaining 1 item per minute. When you increase the number of people to 10, they can kill 10 mobs in 1 minute, gaining 10 item per minute. The more people you add, the faster you gain loot and the less effort each individual has to put in. It’s a backwards risk vs reward system that ends up punishing everyone that’s not zerging. Since guilds are the same way and CoF hasn’t been nerfed, I can only assume that this is how they want the open world to be.
Eventually, they’ll probably change this in some way like only rewarding the top 5 contributors loot. If they don’t, zerging will always be encouraged and heavily farmed areas will continue to be nerfed in an attempt to spread people out.
Because yes, fixing an exploit = taking away the money from all the hard working players.
There is no shortage of other places to grind and farm, even exploits to take advantage of sadly.
That being said, complete removal of loot from the mobs seems like a silly bandaid fix for the moment.
@Healix: I’m not sure an anti zerg mechanism will ever be be properly introduced. Also, flat numbers and math like that only happen in an ideal world. Bring too many people to any (non exploit respawn rate) farm spot, and see what happens… people wind up fighting over mobs, being disorganized, and the kills per minute definitely falls off.
For the toast!

Thank god someone else posted this, I thought it was just me, I just did an hour in CS doing events and getting no loot, (170% MF) out of the first 3 events I walked away with 9 porous bones, and a random crappy blue, we did the temple of mel in CS aswell there 10 mins ago, and I got more bones, a few blues, NONE not a single DROP came from any of the 100+ vets that spawned in wave 2, the champ didn’t even drop anything, the final chest dropped 3 blues, 3 greens, WTF anet,
I now firmly believe that they have turned the drops all the way down to combat the loot that dropped in Mal’s Leap, so id advise anyone doing dungeons do them now because when they eventually get around to nerfing CoF expect all drops to disappear, I enjoyed GW for 7 years, not even a year into GW2, Anet have all but killed the game for me,
I wont advise any of my friends to pick this game up.
The vet spiders spawned by the champions do not drop loot. Nor do summoned grubs by the giants.
It was a change to address people farming the latter for easy kills and loot.
The Vet spiders are simply out of hand at the moment, I really do hope they balance them out when they finally fix the event scaling they claim to be working on.
For the toast!
Its counter productive, they put items in the game that require a stupid amount of farming to get, they then nerf every where you can farm, they remove drops from enemies in MAJOR world events, what exactly do they want us to do,
Where is the incentive to spend 30 mins trying to kill a champ/world boss if none of the hundreds of mods they spawn drop loot, and the end reward is worthless too,
Do they really have to ask why these zones are dead zones now, farming is a big big part of any MMO, I will stick to my prior statement, I will absolutely not recommend this game to any of my friends who play other MMO’s because other than GW2 awesome GFX I think they will be gutted at not being able to farm and play as they want.
I know the dev’s don’t really take notice of these posts, that’s why nothing has changed in months, others have stated it, the game is on a slow downwards spiral, I do commend them for trying to add new content, but new content is useless if your older players are leaving for other games, and where not even a year into the game.

So far gw2 is in need of a dungeon that can reward us. There is nothing more sad than completing a dungeon and ending with blues and green. I really hope we can have items that are specific to certain bosses and unique.

Fractals used to be that. Then they nerfed it.
And your excuse?
There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

What a silly response. Of course they couldn’t just ban the botters.

Does anybody know rough estimate of ESO release, or ArcheAge?
IMO problem is with people who find easiest way to farm anything and turn it into a job. Yesterday I spent whole day at Southsun running from one riot event to the other with A LOT of other people. Well, 200% MF buff and chest every 3-5 mins is very tempting. Got about 50 rares, 4 exotics, crapton of mats. Then I realised most of those are worth more or less 4g because prices of rares, globs, mats went down so badly since SC living story last episode.
On topic. I am too really annoyed that adds do not give any loot or even XP. Heck I cannot even stack sigils with them. I love to “farm” in Orr but every time I see Champ spider spawning zillions of vet spiders that give nothing I want to rage quit.

I think it’s funny watching people complain about these things. You can really tell the people who didn’t play GW or don’t remember how ANET operated with that game.
Griffons, anybody? Solo UW farming builds for ectos?
ANET thinks it knows best how you want to play the game and makes changes aimed at forcing you in that direction. Sometimes, yes, they change things in ways that make sense, but most of the time they’re changing things because they don’t like how you’re playing. For example, they don’t want you to farm Orr, they want you to endlessly run fractals or whatever.
ANET creates games that demand ceaseless grind and then do their best to punish you for grinding. If you don’t like it, you can either quit or you can just pop from one grind area to the next to try and stay one jump ahead of their nerfs.
This is how Guild Wars operated, it’s obvious Guild Wars 2 will operate the same way with the added bonus that you’ll ALSO be punished for not buying gems.
If you think that’s going to change, I applaud your optimism, but I warn you not to hold your breath.
ANET thinks it knows best how you want to play the game and makes changes aimed at forcing you in that direction.
And then makes statements about players being able to play the way they want.

Which usually leads you to a wall of bugs anyway. On Borlis Pass the Pact Advancement meta has been bugged all day because Jorfast’s is stuck in a contested state even though Jorfast is in the kitten ed camp….
So I’m waiting to farm Plinx again for the umpteenth time.
ANET just seems to really hate making it possible to advance without great effort and grind…

This.
What’s the point of trowing in very expensive (mat wise especially) stuff when you can’t farm those due to nerfs everywhere.
It makes just the price levitate, and makes unrewarding the whole Orr/Open wordl.
Also, it force more ppl to farm DGs… i meant, CoF (cause DGs are unrewarding too compared to it) for raw gold to buy the stuff they can’t farm.
If they ever want to be able to nerf CoF (which sooner or later will happen, its needed – even a small nerf – to make healty the game again) without destroy game economy – or just overall experience in matter of crafting highend weapons (legendaries, rare exotics from MF) – they need to revert this.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
The game is to be enjoyed not farmed. Just try and walk around without sticking to one ‘farming-spot’. Made 20 gold in 4 hours doing just that… 3% magic find and understanding the game-mechanics is what you need not a ‘good farming spot’.

This all sounds so familiar….
No… no… not TODD HOWARD? Is Todd Howard working for ANet too?
On a side note, I haven’t touched Cursed Shore in the past week. Is it really true that everything (not only temple events, but small farming events like Penitent and Shelter) are being nerfed across the board?
Or is it the mobs themselves, not the events, are being nerfed?

So, you found a bunch of farming spots, farm them all the way, and tell people they don’t need no farming spot?
Huh…
I love the “no farming” posts. It’s really a complete misunderstanding of the MMO genre. Farming is an essential activity for character expansion and any Anet established (cf. legendary) goal in the game. Do people in GW2 have any history in gaming? Does anyone here understand the genre?
Farming is an issue when it involves a world event like Temple of Lyssa being incomplete. It’s worse when the farmers harass players who want to complete the event for the karma merchant/see what happens because they have never done it before.
A fix isn’t to remove farming altogether, but make sure farming spots don’t rely on such an important event being incomplete. If people want to bot, then by all means let them bot. Just don’t place them in any sort of interaction with other players that warrants a negative response.
Here’s an example solution: In Arah story, the first power node spawns endless waves of Risen until you open the gate to the champion Lich. Increase the drop rate of rarer goods like T6 materials here. The dungeon is instanced, it is limited to five players so there is some moderate difficulty, and most importantly it doesn’t clash with dynamic events in the living world.
