I get the idea behind having instances unlock as a reward for the culminating event-chain of a given zone. It even works, to an extent, with Arah even though the same applies there.

But everywhere else, most notably in the Citadel of Flame, the whole instance locking is just incredibly annoying. All it does is force people to jump around various guesting-servers to find an unlocked server.

Nobody feels compelled to actually do the annoying and unrewarding event to unlock the instance because it just resets again every 30 minutes.

You really need to drop the concept of locking Instances due to some event-chains, especially if events reset so frequently as they do here. It’s just a massive inconvenience otherwise and not in any way fun or rewarding. When you have a group set up and ready to go you don’t want to spend 5 minutes kittening around trying to game the system so you can actually do what you set out to do.

Quite right. Nobody bothers to take 5 minutes and farm the very farmable defend event.

Actually, the name is Portable Corpse, please don’t go calling me Nobody. It’s rather insulting. I just wish a few more peeps were compelled to unlock the place, get a good Zerg on it and like any scaling defend event, you get a very large quantity of drops.

Why should they not lock dungeons when the prerequesite events are not fulfilled? Oh, convenience. You could try any of the other dungeons that don’t lock. Sure, CoF can be completed quickly, but there is the detail of holding the place. If that seems unsympathetic, that’s because I hold no sympathy for laziness. You can easily open the place with 5 players, and most dungeon teams are 5 players in size. If you batt instant action, there are other dungeons. I see no problems here, other than players griping that one farm is in the way of another.

Well,
It got that bad due to the instance finder, making it much easier to find a server where its open

To Yamagawa (or Portable Corpse if you like that better), that event is annoying but still quite okay as you are right about the good farm aspect. But even the event that you are needed to do if that event fails is highly annoying, still beeing nothing compared to CoE where you have to do a full event chain of 20min+ if you want to enter as it is closed very often even on main play times.

Sometimes, I think that I am the only one who comes here to smell the roses and gather iris flowers together. To experience the content. To do battle with trolls that we might then clear the path to the front gate so that we might then storm the castle.

It seems at times that other than myself, and one or two people who have never been to the zone before, I have nobody else helping me setup large meta events where 30+ players swarm in for the last three minutes to claim the end reward...and only those few with me from the start know the true struggle we faced, and the true story behind the big bad we slew.

Do you look at the visitas you visit?
Do you see the challenges the world presents?
Do you stop to smell the flowers?

Why must one always rush to the end result, skipping everything that comes before?
Why must one take an easy boss with a fun fight and glitch it into a *yawn* boring fight where the boss just stands there and......zzzzzzzzz.....

Because the people who speed through the stuff are just hardcore power players. To them, games are just about getting points and money.
