Does anyone have any hints on how you might get this event to trigger?

I’ve been walking around for some time and it doesn’t seem to be on a timer, since I’ve occasionally walk through Queensdale and I’ve seen the event only once. When I ask in the map chat, people doesn’t even know what it is…

Searching for it, I found some hints that says the summoning books are related to it somehow… I triggered both books, nothing happened. I’m guessing there’s either more books, or another prerequisite for it. Anyone knows anything about it?

You have to talk to the Priory researchers, and get the lady to read from the book. normally it will open a portal and a single mob will come out, but if the shadow behemoth event has not happened in the last three hours it will trigger the event chain that will eventually summon him.

I’ve been talking to the lady, I kill the Fleshreaver, and also the book near the ruins where the Norn necromancer is… but nothing happens, and although I’m not doing this 24h, I’m doing it more than often.
I’m guessing there’s still something missing, maybe another book? Though I looked in some obvious locations around, and found nothing =/

I heard somewhere that you may also need a minimum amound of players in the area, but that is speculation.

I’m wondering this same thing. Wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Secrets_in_the_Swamp) said that in order to spawn the Shadow Behemoth you needed to talk to Scholar Taryn, but now it says that talking Scholar Taryn will not spawn the event. Every time I’ve participated in this event, it was started after a player approached Scholar Taryn and subsequently after the Fleshreaver was defeated then you hear the rumbling and the NPC’s start talking their gibberish and everyone is running around to where the Behemoth spawns.
Maybe we need to get an official response to this by an Arenanet employee so all this back and forth about how to spawn the Behemoth is shut down.

Im fairly sure that before the shadow behamoth himself spawns there are a load of smaller DE’s in the surrounding towns like the monestary where you have to defend against shadow invasions. Only when those are complete does the big guy spawn.

It might just be complete coincidence but thats how it worked in my opinion so you might want to check the around the area after talking to the book person.

I just ran around the swamp and completed: The Rotting Oakheart DE NW of the swamp, the two fleshreavers spawned from the books in the swamp, and the “Escourt the Packbull/Brew Supply to the Camp in Swamplost” DE started at the Monastery and not 5 seconds after I started the monastery escort the preevents for the Behemoth started.
