With pictures! It was a tense fight, but I managed to do it without anyone else jumping in this time!

First one: Nearly got it to 75% health.

Second/third: Around 50% now!

Fourth/fifth: Below 25%…must keep going..

6, 7, and 8: It’s almost dead! For Great Justice!

9, 10, 11: Victory!!! Only a masterwork dagger though. At least it wasn’t a Support Token, keehee.

Lucky… I used to do it back before they buffed it through the ceiling, but now with so much HP it’s almost guaranteed someone will come get hit, or get their pet/illusions/minions hit, or it will charge off into the sunset and leash, or just randomly reset its health for no apparent reason.

Actually, in hindsight, you might’ve been luckier if one of those had happened and spared you using all that time to get less than killing the few risen sitting around it would’ve given you. :P

I know. :/

But it was something I wanted to try and see if I could do it, and I feel a little accomplished by doing so. Plus, it opens the Plinx chain back up, which is a fun event chain to do, except barely anyone runs it where I am.

I’ve nearly soloed it before a few times, but:

1) Others jump in early on and force me to reset the fight by giving it too much frenzy.

2) Someone notices and comes by when it’s nearly dead and helps finish it off. Thus making it a sorta-kinda-but-not-quite-solo. This is the first time I managed without either happening.

But no need to use ranged attacks, you can melee it, it’s not very hard.

I made a post to encourage players to kill it:

Everybody should learn to kill this mob.
Go give it a few tries.

The champion abomination is actually quite easy to solo. The first time I ever did it was on my hybrid-condi thief. I would just auto attack right in its face, then as soon as it would start one of its highly telegraphed attacks, I would use Death Blossom to avoid all of the damage. The hardest part about this is the following:

#1: Resisting the urge to go “all out”. The important thing about the giant is to pace yourself. Attack too quickly, and he gets fury and starts to pwn you.

#2: The ancillary mobs around him will sometimes aggro you and cause major problems if they happen to imobilize you at the wrong time.

#3: Some ch00by fr00by n4rb will see you soloing the champion, rush in with full offense wanting to “halp” or get credit, and then mess things up for everyone.

With that said, a really easy way to solo the champion is to circle him while meleeing, and you’ll avoid most of his attacks. Doing this, I can solo him with a zerker build S/P thief, as well as every other class I have at 80 at the moment.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

So..warrior and thief can solo it. I think as long as you can keep your endurance up, you’ll be fine on any class, but I’m curious what classes people use to solo this champion, or if it can be done on any class. (Except Ranger, probably.)

I didn’t go mostly melee because it’ll still charge at you point blank, and with it being nearly instant compared to the lower ranked abominations, I just couldn’t dodge it well. It was safer to keep a little distance between it and me, and run in quick and get some melee when I knew I could slip behind it without getting hit.
