Problem: ArenaNet said that players are not interested in Dynamic events.

Facts:

  • Players want rewards.
  • Dynamic events are fun
  • Dynamic events are not rewarding. Therefore, players will not go back to the world and do dynamic events again.

Solution: Make Dynamic event rewarding.

Have Dynamic event reward system be similar to the dungeon/champion reward system. If you complete a dynamic event, you will get bonus rewards. If you complete the same dynamic event again, you do not get the bonus rewards.

For example, you complete the dynamic event: “Escort Biggs to Fort Trinity” with a gold medal. You gain the regular reward of 1s86c + the bonus reward(3s72c). Then the chain moves towards “Defend Biggs from Risen Knights.” You, the player, complete it and gain the regular reward(1s86c) + the bonus reward(3s72c).

Now, you do the dynamic event: “Escort Biggs to Fort Trinity” again. This time, you do not get the bonus reward and you get only the reward of 1s86s only.

Dynamic events bonus reward will reset weekly. To encourage players to spread out rather than farming one efficient zone only.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,

I think there should be non-diminshing rewards on events that block waypoints, though. Going back and re-doing an event to keep a WP open should be encouraged, IMO (granted you want to avoid making an incentive for people to allow WPs to fall and recapture over and over, as well; balancing that would be an issue).

Definitely an interesting idea though. Probably more gold going into the economy than they want, unless they simultaneously squeeze some other areas.

I’ve got a better idea.

You know how in Orr when you uncontest a temple you get access to the karma vendors? For end-game items? Well, those items are always in demand, and thus, Orr always gets visited and world events always get completed.

And whaddaya know. Dynamic events in the zone also happen to get completed too when there’s a population there.

All you need to do is bring end game vendors to the end of World Event chains of each map.
Make more karma vendors. Like a karma jewellery vendor on Lornars Pass, or a karma/gold Boots and consumables vendor on Gendarran Fields.

Each map has an over-arching one right? Bring in the 80’s for that content and the rest will follow.

If only this was true… its been months since temples are contested in Orr. It is actually so sadly untrue that there are topics dedicated just to see where is an uncontested temple because people don’t care to do this chain events.

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

Love this idea. Though keep the reset simple and make it the same as new dailies. That way I can play some of my favorite zones each day and go through the multiple worlds (mostly Maguuma… love me some Maguuma)

My main issue with events is how futile they are. Can’t count the number of times I’ve done one (alone, naturally) then moved on to another, and half way through I see the first one is back to the state I found it in. The NPC’s run at me yelling for help and I’m like ‘look, I know you’re totally ineffective in combat, and that this will probably be untouched for days if I don’t help, but let’s be honest here – five, ten minutes from now if you’re lucky, your friends will all be dead again and you’ll be yelling at me to liberate your camp again. Do the reasonable thing here and go live someplace else – or install a gate!’.

There are exceptions though, like the really long invasion paths to Balthazar’s temple. For the most part… meh. A bonus reward equivalent to one or two vendored green weapons isn’t going to make it compelling.

I love DEs and it bothers me to see Anet saying there’s no interest. I think some of the content has been delivered in such a way that players don’t even realize its been implemented. I also don’t need a huge bag of coins dropped on me for everything I do, either. I do pretty much all the DEs I encounter. I hope Anet isn’t drawing their assumptions solely from this forum because there are plenty of players who don’t even come here.
