This is a bit of a rant, but I tried Temple of Grenth today.
This event is still too stupidly hard. I hate the difficulty being tied to protecting a NPC that dies in one hit by an AoE the size of the room. On top of that I can not tell what the kitten is killing me. I just BOOM DEAD. People always tell me do it with a small group. Sadly timers online make it close to impossible to do it witho nly 5 people without haivng a bunch of bugs.
Things that make this event one of the worst events in term of design.
1. It relies on NPCS. I hate with a passion protecting/escort an NPC. The NPCs die way too fast, are useless, and just overall annoying.
2. One Play can fail it. IF one palyer makes the mistake of getting too close to the keeper and the Risen Priest decides to cast one of his ridiculous nukes that spawn all over the room, guess what…GAME OVER. Waste of time for 30 players.
3. The Game still scales with dead bodies. WE CAN’T CONTROL WHAT PUGS DO. It only gets my mad at other players to rez instead of sitting there dead. In our most recent attempt, we barely finished killing the priest and there were litterally 20 people sitting there dead, despite the commanders telling everyone to fully spawn.
4. AoEs in general are ridiculous. I again say there were about 20-30 people doing it when I did it. Now everyone always says its eaiser when there are less people, but again…I CAN’T CONTROL THAT. First the Risen Priest has ridiculous AoE. The amount of ice nukes that spawn is amazing. They litterally cover 90% of the room. Then the portals spawn and those cover 100%. Its impossible to stay alive. Oh I died? Let me look at my combat log…it doesnt say how I died. That sure helps.
This event is bad. I run meta events all the time, and people always ask me why I dont like doing temples. It is because many of them are very poorly made. Dwayna is the only one I like. I get really frustrated when I do an event and when I lose it is because of something I have no control over. I can’t control random pugs, so allowing one pug to fail an event for 30 people is such a bad idea. I can’t heal the NPC or keep him alive from the 3 random wells that came from enemies that aren’t culled in.
I really wish you’d guys would just fix this event. I’d love to run it more.
