The Karka Queen
Queen’s chest got buffed.
and I don’t mean crab boobs, I mean it now guarantees 3 exo backpacks, and in most drops I’ve also noticed a free Exotic Settler’s Inscription which is a cheap and efficient way to slowly keep raising your Crafting XP above 460…
Dunno if you’ve been watching the TP, but completed exo Inscriptions are selling for 2x the price of completed Exotic weapons simply b/c everyone is in such a hurry to level crafting to 500 (it’s actually something I had been campaigning for since last year because it was also one of the primary salvage components in Gw1)

I would suggest that the camps do not get attacked for 25-30 minutes once the queen is spawned. It’s simple. It gives people time to buy from the merchants. It stops the attack on steampipe from messing up the queen fight. It lets people run from the other camps to the queen fight without meeting a karka army in Steampipe steading.
If players take out camp karka first then split up to do the other camps it shouldn’t be a problem to clear the other three in time. Steampipe steading should be the last one the moment since that respawn is just a pain in the neck.
I’d completely agree with a worldwide announcement (perhaps with an option to activate/deactivaite it) + timers for the freed camps, perhaps also a scaling timer depending the number of people doing the events or something. Although the Queen is still getting killed on some servers, it’s much harder to spawn than other WB and is more a matter of luck (especially for servers with low population) than something else, like “will we be enough to complete the events before they get done or will we spend 20 minutes+ there for nothing ?”. Frustrating for nothing.
Also, when a Dragon spawns, everyone come do it, it just requires a teleport every 2h30 or so, and sometimes a pre-event done in 5 minutes once it’s spawned. The Queen is located on a low population zone, with a pre-event taking more time to do than the actual fight with the Queen, a pre-event which can fail and will fail if you’re not enough, and the Queen herself can fail… yea, KQ is a hard WB compared to what we already have, the reward is cool, but the fact that we can’t try to fight her most of the time and are stuck with the pre-event is frustrating.
For christmas I’d like to get a crossbow for my characters.
With love, a cute kitty.

I wish they were completed. They still require 5 ectos on top of the weapon parts…
That were some quite interesting thoughts and ideas you brought up.
Some more questions that I am interested in would be:
1. How would you design the event?
2. What should be optimized?
3. Do you (or your homeworld) already (try to) kill her or has she just become an urban legend?
4. Do you think we need more of these “challenging” bosses or do you think we already have enough bosses that are too tedious to do? If the latter, please tell me some bosses you think are overdone.
5. Do you think each homeworld should be able to kill all the open world bosses or is it okay that some worlds stand no chance with some of the bosses?
Well, that’s for now.. I still try to figure out what is going wrong (not only with the karka queen, but she started the entire misery)…
Maybe a few of you want to discuss a little bit more or bring up their own thoughts and theories.

Karka Queen was taken down twice on Gandara when SAB came out. I guess the people who did that are now working on Tequatl.
I don’t think it needs much change. The Camp Karka group event needs to be scaled down so that it is a group event rather than a raid event. The champion there just has bloated health and takes too long to kill. The other camps can be cleared with a few people at each after that. If all the camp respawns were suspended for half an hour after you reached 4/4 then extra people could safely get into the area to reach the event, as happens at Grenth etc. The queen can already be taken down by a zerg with no more complicated tactics than just throwing eggs.
I’ve done the Karka Queen now 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Very often it is announced in my guildchat and it might not be so active as e.g. the fire ele or the mark II golem, but it is far more active then modniir or the fire shaman.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I’ve done karka queen nearly twice a day every day for the past week or two. Guesting over to a higher populated server to farm ori/ancient wood and getting some temples and karka queen in while I am at it.
The updated rewards for her are pretty nice. I’ve gotten 6 of those settler inscription recipes already. Account bound and nothing else to do with them at this point but to delete!
The settler inscriptions that drop are nice, but do indeed require the 5 globs still. At the very least, this saves you the 5 orichalcum plated dowels and 5 T6 materials.
