What's up w/ the vet. chaos beast in Metrica?
It is an event http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kill_the_chaos_creature
It happens sometimes that someone kites the creature to a place outside of the event where the event circle doesn’t move with it.
Ihave witnessed this can be done alone, but it is challenging. It should be marked as a group event in my opinion.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!

Oh, I managed to finish it solo. I had to completely change around my utility skills and weapons though. I guess my complaint is the inconsistency in having a veteran just instantly one-shotting all of my minions (and therefore making all my utility skills useless)… something I hadn’t seen before, and had no in-game way of knowing before doing the event.
Oh, I remember the first time I fought it, very WTF? But once you learn to fight it, is very easy.

I’ve soloed it a number of times. I did notice that it seemed a bit OP when soloing it on a level 80 full exotic warrior doing map completion the last time through. It was a neck and neck race in terms of who would run out of health first, but I just managed to pull it off. I did think it a bit odd for a non-group event/vet mob.
I think this is suffering from some of the same issues Orr is seeing with over-powered vets. I’ve done this several times before with different chars, and while more challenging than convincing nearby skritt to drop the toxic stuff they’re running around with, it was still soloable. I went in there the other night with my necro and I didn’t even see it attack and I was suddenly downed. Couldn’t have been more than one or two hits tops, but I didn’t see anything indicating it was even attacking, nor what the attack even was — just WHAM! Its hits hurt before, sure, but I don’t recall it ever having an attack like a one-shot.

Definitely not.
The issue in Orr is that damage scaling rises exponentially with the number of players, due to a non functioning difficulty scaling cap.
The Chaos Beast here has always hit pretty hard.
Honestly, I’ve never had issues fighting it regardless. It’s only a veteran and susceptible to any range of control effects you can throw at it.
For the toast!
Some of the mobs that look like the Shadow Fiend have the Massive Damage tag. When they get bigger, they are using their massive damage ability. Unless you are going to in-out quickly, it’s better to range them and use CC to slow, cripple etc.

Yep. I find it kinda odd that not all do, yet they all seemingly use it.
Look at the ones spawned as part of the Fire elemental pre-event. Like a dozen or so, that all hit incredibly hard for non vets. Seen even 80’s rush in to melee range and go down near instantly.
Simply not a mob you want to take hits from when possible.

I don’t think it’s just a question of exponential scaling in Orr either … I was there a few nights ago, solo and there were no other players around to cause anything to scale, running around, cleared out the risen chickens, the giants spawned, and with a couple of those eggs, i was done … and most of the time, i didn’t even see the eggs coming, so it wasn’t a question of being to dodge them — can’t dodge what you can’t see. I’m fine with taking damage from things I’m too slow to dodge — shame on me for my horrible hand-to-eye coordination, lol … but when those things are dishing out 10-15k with a single egg and you can’t even see them coming? …
