What's with these vet spiders?
You know what the best bit is? Veteran spider hatchlings don’t even drop loot. So those 20 hatchlings you had to slowly kill thanks to scaled up HP drop you absolutely zero loot.

The vet spewing champs (yes, sans loot), 30k hits from somewhere in the particle blur, and the continuous major CC in Orr since 4/30, I believe, are the effects of on-the-job training for developers at Anet. No one familiar with gaming as a gamer (let alone game designer) would design encounters like this. Humans aren’t designed for epic, continuous failure and they certainly don’t play games to experience near assured defeat. And yet, that’s what we have here.
CS is broken. There’s really no explanation for it—it simply is broken. One really can’t explain, rationally, what’s up with this; I certainly don’t understand it.

This problem started when they expanded the upscaled events a little more than a month ago.
I think it was intentional that they didn’t want them to drop loot. This affects all spiders in all zones, and spiders were the big reason why shelter’s gate was a great farm. Spiders, just like wraiths are the only reliable lvl 80 mobs that drop t6 dust.
Is it a coincidence that they nerfed both wraiths and spiders? Nope
GW2 is a game that does not reward effort. It used to, but not anymore.

I was able to get to the Grenth vendor on Sea of Sorrows (NA) this past week. In fact, they had 4 of 5 cleared at the same time (not Balth). On FC, no one even bothers to do the Grenth pre-events anymore. Every time I’ve been to CS lately, Jonez has been laying dead at the first spawn point for the escort to the Torch.
All of Cursed Shore is a ridiculous mess now. Penitent’s, Shelter’s and Jorfast’s are almost never up anymore (I’ve managed to be there for them 2x, 1x and 1x respectively since about a week ago) and Plinx is never up. Nobody is ever willing to take down the Champ Abomination because he can two-shot most classes, can’t be CC’ed and moves around so much and so quickly that you can hardly even keep him targeted. Not to mention he has a nasty habit of getting one particular character locked at the top of his aggro table who he will instantly go after no matter what the second that character is in range and won’t leave alone until they’re dead (at which point the process repeats infinitely as soon as that character tries to rejoin the fight).
I don’t mind the champ spider at Melandru, but the Jonez Cleansing even is full on idiotic. You can do ALL the Grenth events but that one with three people. I know, my guild did. I managed the shades and two others took down the priest.
But the instant the champ spider spawns in cleansing you just get pull-locked by those kitten vets and everyone winds up completely CC’ed until they’re dead.
And if you have a properly sized group? Enjoy watching Jonez getting wiped in under 4 seconds because of the scaling if you can even take the stupid priest down thanks to the huge influx of shades.
Meanwhile…. on Southsun where you can get a permanent enormous MF boost and reasonable events actually trigger at reasonable intervals…
it also does not help when the enemies drop on Jonez are invisible. There is no warning, so to win you literally have to have 20 people continually cycling heals and AOE around him.
I know they are not “invisible” per se, but thanks to glorious culling they might as well be. Half the time I am just running around waving my staff and daggers, praying I will hit something.

A red comment on this would be greatly appreciated.
I made a suggestion earlier in the suggestion forums that at the very least, Veteran, Champion and Legendary enemies should never be culled due to their high risk dynamic to any mission and the players own life.
It was largely ignored.
Throwing it out there again. Don’t cull them for christs sake.
