horrible loot from dragon events
No, sorry I disagree…
Have you been to that 1 website which shows the respawn time for all 3 dragons? I mean assuming they spawn every 3 ours then I would be able to get 9 rares by just camping the dragonspawns for 9 hours? I could do other stuff in between and wouldnt be doing anything else in game hahaa
yea you could do other stuff im not denying that however its a little ridiculous when i get better loot from trash mobs then i do a world boss.
Chest drops do suck. As do champion and veteran mobs. You’d think that the added difficulty would give better loot.

it schould give better drops maybe weapons made out of the dragons (special green/yellow’s) unique weapon drops like the voltiac spear in gw1

The dragon events are too easy to give out guaranteed rares – although I do think the chance should be higher than it is. For what it’s worth, those events spawn high level additional mobs that seem to have a far better chance at dropping valuable items – make sure you’re in a group and take them out when you can.

9 rares in only 9 hours? what a deal!
… or you could get 5 rares an hour just farming karma events…
OK,
I somewhat agree..but only on 1 point about drops..
I want them for my Class/race…thats all..
Dont care if they are better/worse then what I have, but At least make them for my Class..
If its not for my Class, make it worth selling.
They should give 1 exotic per kill, you can get 2-5 rare per event in ore, dragons are only worth it if you get exotics and since they can’t be botted it’d be a good thing.
Its fine as is imo, and this is coming from someone that farms these dragons every day (i can usually get at least 3 spawns of each.) Despite what some people might say, i do feel like MF gear helps, i usually get a rare from jormag at least 50% of the time, and probably 25% of the time from the other 2 dragons. The pre-events for jormag is also a great way to get some more items, i can often get a rare or a lodestone from it, and a decent amount of karma in a short time as well.
Use the online dragon timers, and it will save you alot of waiting. Between spawns, you can farm cursed shore, or do your daily ori nodes or whatnot. I’ll sometimes do a dungeon speed run or 2 inbetween spawns as well. The events are pretty short and are basically loot pinatas. At worst, the drops you get paid for your WP fee to get there.
Maybe increase the rewards, but randomise the spawn times. Like make it spawn any time between 3-6 hours after the previous encounter. That way it’ll appear less often, and is less easily farmed by watching timers.
When I first started playing my main, all the world bosses and dragons had decent loot, last few weeks they have dropped nothing but vendor trash. I’ve looted 1 exotic weapon off a random Zombie in Cursed Shore, speaking of Cursed Shore, it seems even the loot there has dried up. No reason to continue my level 80 until something gives.
The dragons need to give better loot, period. When I click on the chest and see a straight to vendor pile of “trashure”, I feel like throwing a puppy out of the window of a plane. Jormag ESPECIALLY, it takes nearly half an hour.

Sometimes there will be rares, but they don’t always salvage to ectos or are even anything you could throw into the forge (or you could, but wouldn’t be anything you’re looking for). When I get a chest full of greens and blues I think, “Nice, my waypoint fare has been covered”.
/mode sarcasm on
How DARE you complain about this?? The intense and epic fun you’re having while fighting that huge dragon is your best reward!! Barely scripted, not challenging a single second, insanely laggy and on top of all that epicness (courtesy of that awesome company called ANet) you’re expecting some decent loot??
/off
^ i like it haha
They should put the dragons on a 16hour timer, ramp up their difficulty by a lot, so people actually die like flies. But make an exotic item drop guranted if you get gold in the event.
These dragon events need to be made a lot harder and they need to be on random timers from like 3 – 48 hours or something not 3 hours so people can farm them on timers. Kind of silly really how easy it is to know the exact time they repop.
These things are dragons they supposed to be epic world battles these things might as well just be normal champion mobs with a bunch of hp they are way too easy and dont scale at all.
The events do need to be on a random timer. The rewards are pathetic. As a casual player I am saddened to see that I get vendor trash from the chests.
I have lost interest in doing these ‘special’ parts of GW2 as they are simply not worth it.
If the dragons got put on random timers, they would have to be nerfed pretty hard or they wouldn’t get done. They only get done now because the zerg knows what time to show up. You throw those wads of bad loot and lag on a random timer and watch the population in Orr skyrocket ever higher.
Increase the difficulty of the events tenfold (remember those dangerous crystals that the Shatterer spawns? Oh wait, of course you don’t, DPSDPSDPSDPSDPS). They don’t feel like dragon battles at all. All the attacks are pathetic/easily dodgeable, slow and mostly pointless (Claw of Jormag’s fear is almost entirely worthless). When you have an army against a single, massive force of nature, it should feel that way, instead of what it currently feels like (bashing a door in WvW).
To compensate for making them insanely hard, give out rares commonly and exotics slightly less commonly (but not to the extent of the current drop rate of rares anywhere in the world).
Resident Thief
Surely if an item dropped on every run they wouldn’t be called rare, at least this way it’s not to easy to acquire a decent item. Stop trying to make it so easy to get good gear. Do the run and enjoy it if you get a rare item WOOHOO if not " unlucky" maybe you will next time
So you’re perfectly fine with supposedly epic battles against champions of the legendary forces of nature granting you some blues that you just throw in the trash?
Resident Thief
I am only level like 48 but I dont see a major problem with the loot I mean you get like 4 or 5 items that scale to your level what more do you want? I think its fine its more the dragon timer being too predictable and the fight itself being too easy. Dont go overboard though and make it impossible. The loot could be tweaked but I leave that to them to decide its not horrible right now.
You guys somewhat got your wish. They increased the timer on Jormag, its somewhere between 3-4 hours now instead of 2-2.5 hours. Happy?
Btw if you think they were gonna buff the drops, quality/rate, you clearly don’t know how mmo’s work. But at least you complained your way into longer spawns.
We know how mmo’s work, most don’t reward botting and have deals with them.
The game is failing, but the big content patch is what alot of ppl are clinging too.
They said all the loot problems would be fixed in it.
No guaranteed anything for these Events, they are already over attended making them so easy that they are some of the easiest events in the whoe game.
Server: Gunnars Hold [EU]
Actually, they have said they would improve the drops, but they didnt have it done for halloween so it will come later on.
Colin Johansen hits you for 239407889 damage
Game over
I wouldn’t say the loot is bad considering the effort it takes to get it (ie. 5-15 minutes of fighting for a few blues and the odd greens).
A general problem with GW2 loot is that there is little/no appreciation for Mastercraft items. They are too common, too abundant and generally end up being vendored.
All loots outside of rares feel underwhelming and even the latter only because you can salvage them for ectoplasm.

When I get the same or more loot of the same or higher quality from just killing things in Orr that are in the way of ore nodes and saplings, and in the same or less time to boot, the dragons need to have their loot boosted up. They are, quite literally, not worth the time it takes to do them.
Kierlak i couldnt agree more
I think themed skins are the answer for the big event boss fights, personally.
I will add that it is rather stupid that the best loot from dragon events comes from killing the adds and not the dragon itself.
people still fight the dragons? yea to me there the best looking creatures in the game…….but holy crap there loot sucks, the last time anybody from my guild fought a dragon, i believe was on there first character run through the game, after that everybody learned, they were worthless and were just for looks, you get better loot by just doing penitent and shelters gate runs.

Agreed.
Increase the spawn time, and give them a higher chance to drop precursors, even just a little bit like ~0.02% instead of 0.00000000001%… Then I might actually go and do one of these ‘’WORLD EVENTS’‘. I’ve only done 1, and it was on launch day at level 10.
Prices will slightly drop for precursors, and people will actually have an incentive to do these Events; everyone’s happy.

Don’t know if anyone said this already but whatever.
Anet wants to remove grinding/farming (obviously it’s not completely) but by adding a guaranteed rare every 3 hours or so? Who wouldn’t?
I wouldn’t mind if the frequency was decreased (like one every 6 hrs), the difficulty increased, BUT the drop quality also increased. Right now, these dragon events are too easy. Its just going with the zerg and semi afking for 10 mins, and then right click on the chest. It’ll be more epic if it was a rarer event, harder challenge, and better loot.
You can’t just say ‘make them harder’ as a blanket difficulty increase. As that would seriously affect some people in a very bad way truth be told.
I am on Vabbi and even at peak time, I have fought Claw of Jormag or the Shatterer with as few as 5-6 people. Then spent 10-15 minutes during the fight calling in map for reinforcements and in total, taking 1hr10 minutes killing Claw of Jormag. I’d see maybe 20 tops by the end of the fight if reinforcements do turn up. Also, the quickest i’ve seen claw of Jormag killed on Vabbi in all of the encounters i’ve took part in is 45 minutes. Shatterer, 20 minutes. I’m sure there are quicker fights at times though. But I play in EU peak time. But I have also seen the other side of the coin too. My first Shatterer encounter was on Desolation and was a 90 second zergfest.
If the difficulty is drastically increased by default, for us on the lower pop servers, the dragons will become impossible to complete, or take so long to do, they will become pointless. If the difficulty is changed at all, if should be tweaked depending on how many people are in combat. Maybe something like
Players > 20 = Boss Health x10, Minions Spawned x 2, x2 Champions
Players > 40 = Boss Health x20, Minions Spawned x 4, x3 Champions
If a system like that was added it wouldn’t affect low pop servers where the groups are small, but give the zergs a challenge on busy servers, especially if you have 3-4 Champions running around with the swarm, especially if some people think they can afk the boss.
I think the events need to overall improve. Think about it… a couple months down the line when there are newer things to do and one of these events pop up… if the reward isnt as enticing as it could be, its going to be hard to get enough people to help finish the event. Its a snowball effect really… less people makes the event harder, with no change in reward. So why would they come back to fight again? End state happening is trying to farm ori in Forstgorge with crystal shards that never get destroyed anymore >.>
Guardian – Vindicator Azure

The next amazing loot I get from GW’s 2 will be the first. The game simply doesn’t subscribe to it. Not that I overly agree that their choice is best, but I know it, deal with it and sleep well at night. This was one of those things that people loved or hated GW 1 about, same for 2.
its actually funny that some don’t agree on this LOL. I bet every1 saying “the reward is fine bla bla bla” killed a dragon under 5 times thinking his loot is yet to come since he have only done 5 runs… All three dragons combined i’ve probably killed them over 100 times and reward isn’t just pathetic but a fat JOKE. What i don’t understand is how exactly anet decided to put such a trashy reward? Were they even thinking or just like “okay, we have three elder dragons lets just spam blues in their chests, done” this can be applied to every singel dungeon as well.
Even though I, like many others, don’t always get a rare from the chest, I continue to do these dragon events. To me, they are fun and I see familiar faces time and time again. I don’t deck out in full MF gear and I’m far from being wealthy in-game, but I still enjoy the dragons and the loot.

Jormag in 45 mins???? I feel for you low pop servers….
Come over to SBI, lol.
Yes, this suggestion will be good. It’ll make the event more fun (thats why people play a game right?) Now, on my server dragons like the Shatterer die way too fast. It gets boring after u do it for a few weeks. I understand people want to farm asap, but the drops arent good either.
Maybe there should be increased time between spawn, but better drop rates. It’ll feel more like a epic fight/rarer/special event worthy of a dragon, and everyone gets better loot.
