how to beat the temple of baltazar
Tried it again today. We managed to get to the nobles with just two of us. It’s more effective than I thought. :]
Bah. Using uber-mega-weapons seems cheaty to me. I as don’t like cheaty, especially when it’s not needed.
Besides just a dozen players? The event’s got some wonky scaling, it gets harder as the zerg gets larger. Yer taking it easy with a dozen players. Enough to cap the ring, not so many that it scales to insane levels.
;)

I’ve never really seen anyone try it before though..
Besides I’ve failed the event so many times I just want the zombie zerg to go die in a fire. It would be so awesome if everyone gave those risen a good surprise and let them all BURN!!

I’ve done it so many times that I have no idea what to do with all my mouldy bags or dragonite. For now, i’m just hanging onto them.
I’ve started a sort of how-to thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/Balthazar-Tips-tricks-and-wisdom/first#post3153898
I’m waiting to see what becomes of the veteran Subjugators, they are kind of nasty currently, and can wipe large zergs by using a single skill. Once they get a nerf or other adjustment, I’ll extend the detail to cover the 3 invasion paths in detail and give ample detail on the final escort.

Yeah… the new subjugator moves are just a wee bit broken.
For the toast!
I don’t think they are broken persay, as i’ve never seen a full zerg die, however… today we did all the south/central/north paths. all 3 sets. hurray. They died immediately upon leaving rally, i mean immediately. the scaling powered up the Wells that the subjugators used and they simply one shotted the npcs.
Anet, please give better AI to the Pact NPCs when you buff enemies… that’s just ridiculous. they should at least try to dodge out of that stuff rather than wait inside 10x stacks of wells. The new toxic have better AI than any green npc in the game!
Also, we can res the NPCs otw to rally, but not after?
You need like 30ish to do all the paths, if not far more (depending on abilities) and who doesn’t wanna finish balth?
Then scale down to <15 to prevent immediate npc death after rally waypoint.
(Whats the point then Anet? #lastminutewinners. Hangout in LA and wait, hurray! I get ascended ftw!)
Lets discourage server participation in one of the most important meta events… sweet.
AFAIK Veteran Risen Subjugators has no cooldown when spamming Wells. One can spam about 6-10 wells in seconds.
It’s important to engage them as far from the pact as possible, ideally you go straight for them when the mobs spawn and hit them with knockbacks along with every hard crowd control possible. We normally have all our guardians and warriors equip hammers solely for that part. Thankfully they only spawn for the first half of the push.
The real problem with doing Balthazar is that you have tons of people who have notifications set up for if the final push happens so you do all the prep work and then a huge mob shows up and scales the event up who often do not understand how the event works.

Good times, good memories

It’s not a matter of a cooldown. It’s got a horn skill that triggers the marks/wells. One use of the skill creates an appropriate(?!) number of wells of appropriate(?!) dps for the scaling of the event. Although, whether these are being appropriately calculated or lack required caps might be a point for debate.
Where things get iffy for large zergs is if the wells don’t catch all the NPCs, they will then quickly down and kill all the players inside them, leaving largely undefended NPCs to the massive spawn for easy slaughter. If the NPCs are inside the wells, then they die, the event ends, and undead (and their wells) despawn. The zerg that was mostly not even downed by the wells is asking “what happened, everything went away!”.
There’s one subjugator in this moderatly scaled event. How many wells do you count?
the event was over less than 2 seconds after this screenshot was taken.
