Best new patch to date
I’m having a lot of fun so far. I haven’t collected any audio logs yet, but I got my continuum transfuctioner. I did the Rox story, though next time I need to be careful to only destroy one of the 4 things at a time and not open the show with ‘Meteor Shower’, that got me killed.
I’m off to help Braham now, and start looking for logs, and hopefully get done in the next 4 hours before the reset.
I talked to the refugees, and saw in the patch notes something about the Cove. I need to poke around and see if I’m not supposed to be heading there to help anyone.
I like the new cut scene style for the stories, but I admittedly got used to the comic strip conversation. It has a neat style to it as well. I do miss hearing my character talk too. Though I will admit, when I created her, I assumed she was much younger than she ended up sounding, but I eventually got used to it.
Unrewarding content and more RNG is exactly where this game needs to go.
I’m not being sarcastic at all either. No, really. I’m serious.
it really has given, something for everyone.
While I applaud new content in general, I don’t really agree with this statement. I basically got nothing out of this living story addition beyond around 30 minutes of instances. The rewards were very underwhelming and essentially useless to me.
Oh my gosh, did they give us ‘real’ cut scenes for conversations instead of those out of world still ones? I only started the razing content and won’t be able to play through the stories yet because of work. If that’s true, it’s one step in the right direction!
And unrelated, name changes. <3 Love the name changes.

I agree! This has got to be the best update Anet has released! Ever!
I liked new instances, though they were kinda redundant, expected a little more challenge. On the other hand – the had only a month to work on this, so having that in mind – job well done
Some people are forgetting that this is basically a free content.

It isn’t free content, it is a way of keeping players… well playing. Thus making the game look attractive to new users and keep people buying.
I say this as I find the grind of the living story mind numbing to the extreme… the hunt 2 items for hours part to hand in to a underwhelming result in Lions Arch was dire.
I really do not see the point of the Living Story at all. Perhaps someone could educate me… why should I do the grind aspects of this chain to ultimately receive very little reward?
I don’t. Even more grindy now because of the quickness nerf.
Are you kidding? Not even going to touch the story but the nerf to quickness is horrible. They are doing it in reply to the CoF spam pretty much but doing it for that reason alone is kitten There are a great many classes that use it as a utility such as Rangers and Thieves that depend on it for our dps all the time. Not just during a single spam run.
This is a huge punch in the face to several already undesired classes for most types of dungeon runs.
The new instances were fun, I felt this was a more substantive chapter of the Living Story, while the earlier ones were too underwhelming and lacked a coherent narrative. If the first two parts had been combined, and had lasted for a shorter amount of time, it would’ve been better I think.

Loved this update.
More content like this, please!

I think the cutscene is on some level better than the avatar with background. However, what these dialogues lack isn’t background noise. They’re lacking body language, and especially body language with context. The cutscenes actually compounded the problem by having people stand still at wherever they happened to be and start talking. With the old style at least you get rid of the background and the format is more like theatre.
As far as narratives go I think GW2 is still miles behind TSW for instance. It’s better to just let it slide.
I want it to make sense right away, then another sense later. Murkiness =/= quality "

Fancy cutscenes take a lot of resources and time. It’s better to do these minimal ones, and put more work into actual gameplay content (imo).

I really like the story and I love our two new NPCs. I hope to see more of them in the future.
Another thing I really love is how much improved our Allied AI is. Both Braham and Rox hold themselves up pretty well. They actually know how to heal!!!
I really did enjoy the Rox instance. I’m glad this patch provided some fun new content, even if shortlived. I’m surprised that the Living Story hasn’t altered any of the meta events going on, like Meatoberfest, though.

That’s true! I’ve only done Rox’s story, but she didn’t go down the entire time. Almost any other NPC aside from Rytlock would have.

Fun is a reward.
No more spinning camera — just that is a great quality of life update. WvW fixes and no more culling. Balance changes that keep the game moving and fresh creating an actual need for players who only play one style to adapt and change. No new currency. Laurels available to PvPers. New content for PvEers.
Yes, something for every major game type. It’s a nice update.
