Hints at Tickets
I knew that. Thats why i suggested what i did. You are smart dude.
Dont fight, just win. The path doesn’t matter, the results do.
Sounds extremely far-fetched I would say.
It is a text about forges, of course said forges would make weapons.
There are several personal story missions that are about testing new weapons and such, and yet we don’t get those weapons or skins for doing the personal story.

I’m not entirely convinced. There’s definately a focus on weapons, but if you ask me, its hinting more at larger “weapons” (like seige weapons, or whatever “weapon” they’re using to create the snow / sandstorms) more than just typical handheld weaponry. The handheld weaponry isn’t much of a major threat in and of itself, so “stopping the production of some burning swords” doesn’t seem like much of a big goal. Stopping the production of weapons capable of large-scale environmental changes or destruction of whole towns would be much more important. And would also better show off the combination of Dredge tech and Flame Legion magic (imagine a dredge tank that can launch streams of flames for example, much more impressive than a bow thats on fire).
I do hope they plan to give a ticket away at the finale anyway, though. I just don’t nessicarily take this as a grand hint toward it.
It would be nice if they gave out a ticket for the end of the F&F event, to be sure. I’m not THAT big a fan of any of the weapons, but the Fused dagger may be a nice addition for my future dual-wielding Dagger thief someday. (Combine it with a Corrupted or Kodan dagger for a nice fire and ice effect.)
Dont cling to such a pipe dream, you’ll only get bitter from the dissapointment. After the Halloween and Lost Isles backlash, you can bet they would have made it known if they planned on another way distribute those skins. The flavor text blurb doesnt indicate it either, its just a blurb of flavor about dismantling the source of the upgraded monsters we fought throughout this story arc.
Why would you buy 131 chests? that’s alot of money. Why can’t they sell tickets in the gem store for a given amount of gems and that’s it.

Because they would earn less money that way?

How would they earn less money? i bet their sales would increase by a 1000 times or more.
There’s very few who want to risk real cash on RNG when you might not even get a ticket for a weapon skin.

The fact that they keep adding limited time things to the chests would prove otherwise though.
If they didn’t earn loads of money from it, why would they keep doing it instead of selling the skins outright?

I didn’t say they don’t earn a load of cash, they most likely do but ArenaNet/NcSoft and their community would benefit more if they sold them directly for gems.
RNG works for in-game loot from npcs and chests, not from in the gem store, not if you want to make a good deal.

How do you know that they would benefit more from selling them directly?
There are already people spending loads of $ on the chests, most likely way more money than they would have gained from selling the items directly.
Rather hard to discuss without any real numbers though, but since ArenaNet actually have these numbers I will assume that they know what they are doing.

I bet you’re wrong. We haven’t really seen ArenaNet sell weapon skins outside of chests except for wintersday when there were not so very attractive weapon skins. If they sold these Fused weapon skins directly for gem i promise you they would make more. It makes sense and if something makes sense you should go with it, not only will they make more cash but their community, their players will not feel ripped when they bought 100 keys and got nothing or hopeless because they don’t want to spend alot of cash on something that’s controlled by RNG.
You should read up on how F2P games monetize and prosper.
While this isnt a F2P game, once bought the dynamics are mostly the same. Data from said F2P throughout the last years of their continuing rise in popularity show that some heavy spenders subsidize those games, often at a level that gets close to an addiction. The GW2 cash shop RNG items prey on exactly those players that will pay hundreds of dollars on each limited time offer for the mere chance at something shiny. And they’ll buy in again next month despite feeling ripped off for a few days. You and others just buying one sword skin for 4 dollars directly wouldnt make up for those players not blowing hundreds or thousands of dollars each month, even if you rationally believe so.
They also said the new Dungeons reward were unique so most likely not a Ticket.
According to the new Massively article, you get A ticket for some Molten-skinned gauntlets, which can only be gotten ONE time. So yeah it is ‘unique’ I guess, mainly since there can be only one on anyone’s account. God I hate how Anet keeps removing any reason to have Alts and keeps ignoring/punishing us Altoholics.
From article:
The dungeon rewards two boss chests and a handful of money, karma, and experience (thirteen silver, 760 karma, and 88,900 experience for my level 80 Warrior). Additionally, finishing it and seeing the cutscenes with Braham and Rox afterwards will, in conjunction with a couple of the other living story titles, grant you a ticket for some Molten-skinned gauntlets. So that's kinda neat. As far as I know, you can only get those once -- altoholics, know that you have my deepest sympathies and condolences. We're all in this together
If that info is correct, I’m not seeing much reason to rerun it all after the first time. Overhyped again…
Please give us a keyring…

Keep in mind that she quite clearly says “As far as I know”.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Massively has a rather nice track record of posting incorrect information at times, so I would wait until we actually see the patch before complaining.

I have yet to see incorrect info from them. Have any examples of when they posted incorrect info? (I’m curious, not calling out or anything)

Buy them by the refugees in LA for 1 token each!

Worse—you have to run a lousy dungeon in order to get it.
Ps. As someone who bought 131 chests before getting my ticket, […]
