Q:

My party tried several times to beat the final (pair of) bosses and kept wiping. Does anyone have any tips on how to defeat them? We never managed to get either boss below 50% health, and we were focusing one.

A:

You need to pick one boss and focus on him. The other boss heals back up to 100% health once Phase 2 starts, so there’s no point in trying to take both down at the same time.

That said, whenever one boss reaches 75%, 50% and 25% health, the other boss gets a special buff of 50 stacks of “Enraged”. This makes him deal double damage, so it’s crucial that someone in your party keeps an eye on the second boss and attacks him to knock off the stacks. (Each hit on the boss removes 1 stack of Enraged.) Most parties I’ve seen fail is because they neglected to do this, and the other boss downs a couple of people with his supercharged attacks, and it all goes downhill from there.

It’s really up to your party as to which boss you choose to kill first. I personally prefer killing the Berserker first, as the Firestorm is rather easy in Phase 2. The Berserker gets a new flame shockwave attack in Phase 2 that deals a ton of damage, and can easily one-shot players with it. He also gets more frequent normal shockwaves that make it quite difficult to jump/dodge all of them.

Finally, there is an alternate method of fighting the Berserker. His shockwaves don’t start at his feet, but a little distance out. This means if you’re standing directly underneath him in his red target circle, you won’t get hit by his shockwaves (although his normal attacks will still hit you). If you’re really having trouble, you can try using this tactic to take down the Berserker, but I don’t really recommend it as it could be deemed as an exploit. Use it at your own risk.

For the record, I don’t think it’s a exploit.

You can still be hit by falling rocks, and the Berzerker doesn’t stay in one spot forcing you to run around and get back in position.

Plus, I find it almost impossible to believe that this wasn’t tested for.

Your guess is as good as mine. It does FEEL exploity to me, but I can see where you’re coming from, which is why I mentioned it as a possible option. If one wants to play it completely safe and not use it, they can. If one wants to use it, they also can. Just don’t abuse those who choose not to use it.

not sure I could call it a exploit, that seems more like a tactic for fighting him for more melee heavy players/builds. if you want an exploit, the first bosses safe corner be a prime example.

Did it last night, our party focused fired the berserker while dodging all the AOE, then we killed the other dude. Seems like just focusing on getting one down asap was the way to do it.

It steam engines when it comes steam engine time.

Although if all 5 players on your team stack at his feet, he will stay in the one spot the entire time. Its a source of rage I am seeing from players. 4 players stack at the feet and one player decides not to and berserker moves and gets the other players out of position and they have to risk dodging through waves because the other player isn’t doing it.

I’m on the same page with Chaotic Storm. There’s no way to react in time to the shockwave if you are in melee range. I do believe it’s a save zone desinged to allow melees do their thing as well.

And yes, the safespot(s) when you do the first “boss” encounter – that feels much more like an exploit/bug using.

That said, whenever one boss reaches 75%, 50% and 25% health, the other boss gets a special buff of 50 stacks of “Enraged”. This makes him deal double damage, so it’s crucial that someone in your party keeps an eye on the second boss and attacks him to knock off the stacks.

As a side note: To call this mechanic to the players’ attention, the corresponding bosses have an emote/catchphrase, that indicates, when the enrage triggers.

If you happen to stumble across any typos,
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.

One thing a party of mine found to be annoying the other night is that the Berserker does some kind of knockback when he shadow steps. 3 of us in one fight got knocked off the stage because of it. I was jumping and then suddenly was knocked a quarter of the platform off the stage!

So, yeah…beware of that.
