Well, Colin hinted that the dungeon might be found in fractals sometime in the future. Who knows what might happen in-game in days, months, years to come?

I still haven’t logged in to experience the rest of it since I did the rox and the w/e the charrs name event, nor do I care to. Why bother with temporary content?

Temporary means you are forced to log in within a certain time frame to get everything done and see it all, that is BAD design. Enough of this living story crap, I don’t care for it.

It also just a total waste of all the hard work the team did to put it in the game, only to be seen for a month. I mean really that’s dumb. I feel kinda bad for those designers.

Wasted potential!

Back to WoW, make GW2 fun please.

Well a lot of the story in GW2 is hinted at you need to work out what going on from the snip they give you in the game. Well they my have overestimated with the intelligent of the over all community but i think its far better to tell a story this way then saying the same things over and over. “Remember when we did this well its because of this and this” later on “O ya that one time we did this and we talk about this but we will talk about it agen” etc.. Saying what happen and why over and over in a story is bland and unneeded for the reader unless you think the reader is unable to look back or cant remember what they are reading.

Gasp! Content that encourages players to log in on a regular basis every month? How dare they use a business model that causes people to log in every month. Those selfish jerks

I must say I almost find myself in agreement. I found the dungeon to be fun and beautifully well done. Why is this going away? The time spent developing and implementing all of this could have been put else where like Guild Halls, nicer looking armor designs, better stats on legendary weapons and other higher end gear or reworking the ending of the story where Zhaitan just sits there and lets us shoot him to death slowly without reacting or perhaps the next expansion that has us face the next elder dragon and continue our quest towards ridding Tyria of the dragons once and for all. My intention is not to make people angry but these are just my humble thoughts.

Actually.. being forced to live in a stale world that never changes it’s entire lifespan of 5+ or more MMORPG years or needs a major expansion to see any change that is still kinda… eh.. leaving most of the world the exact same is bad. I’ve played far to many MMORPG’s were older sections became relics all the way back to EQ with Kunark and WoW with the Burning Crusade section where nobody wanted to do it. They were even bitter about having to do this out dated and unfun content with bad gear stats for the new styles.

This is a positive thing and I’m happy for it but I do hope to see less one offs like the Karka event even though it was really cool. The lag, loads of karka killing due to scaling, and being booted never to get back in to see it on your own server was just.. ya… That part sucked and they need to let your character stay there for 5 minutes to give a shot to get back in not just boot you asap.

Anyways…. a living ever changing world is a very fun thing and I look forward to it.

Well, they could have done it like RuneScape, where there’s content added every 1-3 weeks. From new quests to new areas to new items. Making the world grow, sometimes making old forgotten places popular again, but all with permanent content.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

I wish they actually showed what they spoke of in-game. Telling us about what the story was in a video on youtube makes no sense.

For example, when speaking about Rox and Braham Angel McCoy says, “over time they become very good friends…” Really? I didn’t get that at all, they were just there in the dungeon when I arrived. I got no sense that they were very good friends at all. I got no real sense of what the nature of the alliance is between the Flame Legion and the Charr. I got no real sense of what was actually going on at all.

It’s nice that they have 2013 planned out but will it be coherent? As an actual story this was an absolute mess. I mean you shouldn’t just email us to tell us that stuff happened and now there’s a dungeon, you should show us it happening, include us in the action, basically have it happen in-game.

I had huge hopes when the missions appeared in March that there would be an actual storyline in-game, I think that there should have been a number of additional missions between Cragstead and the Molten Facility, missions involving tracking down, discovering and scouting the molten facility, Rox and Braham teaming up, getting help from the Vigil and so on, these missions that would have added so much to the story.

Why was this moved to flame and frost? This is about living story in general , if your gonna move it at least put it in the living story general discussion.

It was alright, it was kind of like an old school history channel documentary.

Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.

Feel like you missed the point of the post, im not complaining about the production quality of it. But rather what it represents.

The problem is as of currently the world isnt changing beyond from certain things. What is happening now is that we have two layers of the game. The first is the permanent layer of the game , this consists of the essentially what we got when we bought the game with the addition of fractals and guild missions. Then we have the second layer on top which is the living story , it comes and goes and is built upon the lower layer but is changed frequently leaving little if any of itself behind.

The best way to explain my point i can think of is a House. The House itself represent the game, while the living story is the paint on the house. You can change paint of the house but it doesnt add anything to the house except the occasional bits you cant seem to scrape off. Which is much like what we have now, We have the base game with the living story on top.
