Is this a bug?
The champion fire elemental can summon 2 normal adds with a certain skill. They die pretty quickly but the champion can end up summoning a bunch of them if you don’t have much AoE.
Tyr Sylvison – Warrior
Illyiah – Revenant
Ok, maybe that was the problem. The group did hang back some. I guess we needed to run in and target the champion. He must have called up the adds at a fast rate.
As the starting spawn in the room, there are three “Embers” and one “Champion Ember” further back, who will normally approach and spawn “Lesser Embers.”
The normal “Embers” can be focused fired and whittled down to reduce the chaos, or you could just go straight for the Champion and take them down later.
If the group ends up tunnel visioning on “Lesser Embers,” that tends to lead to prolonged mass chaos and death as the champion can put out an endless supply of them. Running into the room and spreading out is also a mite safer as the ground AoEs don’t all get concentrated on one spot.
It summons three lesser elementals, not two.
As others have suggested, I don’t advise fighting in the tunnel, both for lack of room, and because they will reset if pulled too far down.
I’ve honestly never seen more than 6 lesser elementals up at one time, they usually die very quickly to any form of AoE. A single of my Engi’s flame blasts is enough to dispatch all of them if they spawn together.
You’re definitely going to wind up moving around a lot, but try and avoid separating the silver/champ embers, so you can take them down faster.
Also keep in mind the silver portrait embers are still very susceptible to any form of interrupts. Daze, stun, fear, external movement (knockback/down blowout), which can be helpful for keeping the amount of lava fonts down.
For the toast!
Thanks for the advice. I’ll pass it on to the others. We had done it before with no problems. I guess we just messed up on it. Appreciate the help. :-)
