I had a lot of fun playing through the Molten Facility, as I’m sure a lot of us still are. But I wanted to provide some constructive criticism, which may be helpful for future content. Feel free to chime in, as I’m sure we have our own gripes.

  • The ore nodes are a great idea, maybe add more of them, even in other dungeons?
  • The dungeon still feels a bit linear. It would be interesting to see future dungeons explore more open style areas, like with Underworld in GW1. This still follows the one long corridor design concept, like the other dungeons.
  • The final boss is very anti ranger pet, and anti minions. Due to the massive aoe (which pets can’t leap over, unlike their owners), and the teleporting (which leads most melee pets on a merry chase for most of the fight) rangers with pets, and necromancers with minions are really unfavored. I like the design of the boss, but I would like to see future content be more pet/minion friendly.
  • The final boss, like many bosses, seems to have a tendency to pick on downed players to make sure they are dead. Which while clever, might also be considered a bit frustrating and unforgiving to some players. There’s also not much opportunity to recover once you do go down in that boss fight (again due to all the shockwaves). Which has left me trying to solo the boss on multiple occasions, due to the rest of the party being dead.
  • The gauntlet / obstacle courses were a welcome addition to otherwise repetitive combat. More of this please. Same for the secret areas and randomized encounters.
  • The supercooled zones are an interesting idea. More combat situations that encourage us players to make use of our surroundings would be most welcome.
  • The enemies get a bit repetitive quickly. Overall I didn’t find them all that interesting to fight (apart from the boss).
  • Its a pity that we didn’t get to see any explosion at the end, or see the elevator at the end go up. But I did enjoy the final running section of the dungeon, because it was very reminiscent of the start of the Eye of the North expansion in GW1 (beneath Lion’s Arch).
  • That chest just after the room of death rarely contains anything valuable, which is a pity.
