For all those who have read the new blogpost already, after the flame and frost arc they are planning on taking it all out this includes the new instances…
In my opinion they should stay in the world for new players who have yet to experience these “Small Stories” > or change it to a mini dungeon type?
my hopes are high for the next content update! but honestly it would be great if certain instances stay in the game for new players!
I agree. Why put a large amount of effort into creating content and than throw it away after? If they just leave all this stuff it will give people a heck of a lot more stuff to do whether they are new or just took a break or didn’t get around to it.
I can understand the events and quests ending, but I think they should keep the instances. It would be a shame for all that to be gone.
And you never know, it might come in useful later, like Southsun.
Irritating as well for those who are not lvl 80 since they don’t know how much time they have to get levelled and kitted for it.
The world doesn’t really change if new areas and instances are taken back after being presented for a brief time. If the Living Story quests are gone: fine. But the areas they take place in should be kept as a reminder of this particular story.

Why do you need to be 80?
I did both “mini dungeons” at 40 last night it auto leveled me to 80

I have a feeling the currently available content will be here for a good long while, but it’s hard for them to establish the feeling of a progressing storyline when content has to stay static just to make sure nobody misses out on it months or years down the line. Most MMOs handle story by keeping entire zones in a state of perpetual suspended time for years (sometimes forever), and simply adding new zones with different stories to create a sense of progress. There’s a sort of status quo that has to be maintained; nothing can ever truly be resolved, because it would mean future players have no context for what’s happening in the zone. That’s because, with very few exceptions, the developers have no intention of reusing or revisiting those areas. The content has to exist pretty much in the same state as it was when it was released, so that people have things to do there. When players are finished, they move onto a new zone; they’re not expected to go back unless they’re on an alt.
In the case of GW2, ArenaNet is very much interested on giving people reasons to go back to existing zones, and in keeping them relevant. They want to create a feeling of an ongoing story. That means that in the future, places like Braham’s village may be part of a different mission. And, to me at least, the content being transient makes it more exciting. It’s an event, and like they said, part of the ongoing chronology of the world. Like the things that happened in GW1, or even before the current time of either game, they become part of the world’s history.
they can keep it after the F&F ends as a scenario for each hero’s story and hide its living story markers and make the scenarios accessible from whatever way ,, that would make the gw2 world richer with stories and that will add to the game specially to the new players
It would really be a shame for them to put all the effort into creating these instances complete with voiced dialogue just to remove them entirely after a few months. I get that the want to keep the world living and such have present and past events but that doesn’t mean you have to remove the living story content entirely.
Once the Flame and Frost story arc concludes it would be well worth it to set up a system that would allow you to replay the instances and “relive” the story. It could be explained easily enough in a similar way to how the Bonus Mission Pack worked in GW1 where you were reading a story and reliving past events through the mission.
i dont mind the fact if they take it away but how bout this keep the npc that allows you to replay it….
