Collective, dont get me wrong I like this living story (with some exceptions) but you must realize that the team could as well be a second dungeon or world zone team for more permanent content, right? So yea them making this means less manpower on other things.

This is not the same argument as the web team making gimmicks, the guys that made this and SAB could as well have made more lasting content.

That I’d definitely have to agree on, the best attention to detail, and well received content seems to be the temporary events like halloween, xmas, sab, F&F etc, it seems like a big waste that these are temporary content.

Luckily the SAB is coming back with more levels in the future, so that I’m happy about at least

Theres valid critisizm in what you’re saying, but keep in mind they also don’t want this to turn into your average MMO, one of the ways they’re separating it from the herd is with frequent timed content, where if you miss it, you miss it. Its a very interesting concept, one that fits the game’s business model really well too, a lot of people own the game, and they feel its better to keep them coming back regularly, rather than to artificially keep them in game with progression treadmills.

Now that said, I think they’re still shifting teams around in game, I too hope we see more permanent endgame PVE stuff in the near future, but I think Living Story is a cool hook that makes for a lot of “You had to be there” moments, and when you look back even on MMOs with a lot of permanent stuff in the endgame, people reflect on events that happened one time only, quite often.

They just need to find a better balance, but that doesn’t mean divert all resources to one area. I’m really happy with Living Story.

I kinda like it, the world feels more alive this way rather than just another grind fest at the end for the best loot. Like the Karka event, although very short, was fun. I think the whole map was killed by invisible rolling champions, and we had a grand fight. Good times, and very fun to remember. Makes it kind of unique. Same with the living story, with a more reasonable time frame, a thing is happening, the world changes, and you can chose to take part in it, or not. If you do, you get some fun stories and maybe a cool momento to keep with you. And you get a feeling of “you were there”, for a lack of better words, down the road.

Of course, end game content is always nice (more so when it is not a huge grind fest), but the game is still very young, I am sure ArenaNet has big plans in the future, but we cannot expect them to deliver everything over night.

Jeez people, so much hate. Arena-net did state that Guild Wars 2 was going to be an active living story from the very beginning. Nothing stays the same forever.

Theres less hate than you’d think, there are just very vocal people. This is how MMO forums always are.

I think a lot of people will really love it when they participated in an event that only ever happened once, years from now.

Dear ArenaNet Devs,
I hope you all know that there are plenty of players/customers (Gem Store Addict) that love this new Dungeon and the Living Story; do not take the criticism from the haters above to heart. My girlfriend and I have ran the dungeon twice since its release and have loved it both times! The new mechanics are fun and so is the new Jewel Type! If you are ever in the Northern Shiverpeaks area we would love to run the dungeon with you!

Nothing stays the same forever?
Tyria as a whole is unchanged.
WvW zones are still the same.
WvW NPC ares still the same.
Dynamic Events are still the same.
Heart Tasks are still the same.
Personal Story is still the same.
SPvP capture & hold gametype is still the same.
Zones are still the same.
NPCs are still the same.
Dragon Events are still the same.

I’ll make it easy for you. I’ll list what’s changed.
Southsun Cove added.
Karka added.
SAB & MF added, only temporary.
Holiday Events added, only temporary (this is good).
Weapon Skins added.
Guild content added.

The negatives outweigh the positives in things changing.

Content doesn’t seem as important if it’s always there imo. If we had this awesome new dungeon be permanent the way it is now, how long before it is forgotten? It offers no tokens (which I like, to grenth with grinding tokens!) it is for the experience. It is exactly what the title of this whole group of content is, living story. They improved, because now it’s not some super large pve zerg that lags everyone out and makes people miss out on a chest and then wait several months to get bupkiss (yeah, pointing at Southsun Cove). It’s instanced, and can be done when the player is up to it in a more than reasonable time frame.

Enjoy the content, tell friends," hey, wish you were playing gw2 back during flame and the frost. It had some sick content really brought out the true colors of pve."

Plus I doubt this is the last living story, we already finishing up #2. I feel glad I was apart of both, even if the 1st 1 had some issues. Both encounters were memorable and enjoyable, better than any of the current dungeon bosses in terms of mechanics imo.

Also, how does pve content at all affect wvw? Wvw is in the mists, practically a different realm. Jormag isn’t flying around the mists, nor is kralkatorik. The don’t really influence one another when talking about content. Wvw has changed, a lot recently. Spvp continues to be polished (slowly but surely). Pve events/dungeosn continue to be polished.

The location of the entrance has changed because it’s supposed to be a different Molten facility. Sadly, nothing inside the actual dungeon has changed and Rox and Braham act as if they’re meeting each other for the first time again and again.

Of course it would be needed to track whether people already done the dungeon or not. Because it would run into complications with the story for some people otherwise.

The idea is nice though, it’s a change of scenery a little. =P Next time to make the dungeon change on the inside as well if that’s not too hard to do. :x

I understand that players who’ve done it will want it to have changed a little, but as someone who prefers to play this 5-man dungeon in a Massively Multiplayer Online Game with friends, rather than with strangers, and isn’t able to do so until exactly today, I am happy that the content inside the dungeon hasn’t changed. I was at first worried about missing out on the original dungeon once the location would change, but luckily for me and my friends that isn’t the case.

Story-wise, I figure the Molten Alliance have created many very similar Molten Facilities and we, the players, have to destroy each Molten Facility one by one. A bit of an aesthetic change to fit with the area the molten facility is in could have been nice though.

Nope he never said that. The lines Rox and Braham have and all the dialogue inside the dungeon changes a tiny bit every time. the encounters in the dig tunnel are randomized as well. But that’s about it.

No. I won’t run CoF1 more. It’s not challenging and not fun.

You seem to confuse “lack of loot” with “lack of random world drops that can be earned anywhere”

“Lack of loot” is lack of loot unique to the dungeon, such as a dungeon-drop only item. There’s a jetpack. Aaaaaaand its RNG is worse than Fractal Weapons, and even worse considering we have 12 days to farm the kitten out of the facility and just close our eyes and hope. I came out of the dungeon the last 4 times without anything. I was not an experience wiser, not a dime richer, not a tad more amused.

I wish less lackluster content like this one was added, and more quality content like Fractals was added.

Fractals is the only good permanent thing we’ve seen. Everything else has been “alright” at best, the permanent stuff. I don’t mind temporary stuff, but there’s only one real dungeon in the game, and that’s alarming 8 months down.

Living story dev team is separate from permanent in-game additions like “real” dungeons, so anything these guys create does not detract from the actual content teams.

These “story dev teams” could do something else. I don’t understand why they even have a team for it, if this is all they could come up with. I know they want end-game to be dynamic events and living stories like this one, but just because they name it end-game doesn’t mean its anywhere near end-game.

Where’s the challenge? Where’s the prestigious skin-rewards only the best of the best can walk around with?

But no. It’s not bad and it’s definitely intended for this game. Nobody enjoys doing the same dynamic events over and over for a reward that cannot be exchanged for anything.

It did indeed have great gameplay. But in the end, it was fun once, and now we can wait for another month to see what 30 minute-gameplay they toss in our direction.

I’d rather spend countless boring (?) hours trying to figure out a hellishly hard boss fight, to then be rewarded with a shiny weapon skin, that only the best have.

I wonder how few people there are who just run the dungeon and play the game for fun, and nothing more than that. I have such trouble wrapping my head around comments saying it sucks because the loot is nothing to write home about.
I ran the dungeon once, I’ll run it once or twice more before it’s gone, and that’ll be it. I’ll have had fun and I move on. Is loot really everything? To me it ain’t.

Best I can do is describe the feeling:

You’ve worked hard and you want to prove that you did work hard and that you’re good. But there’s nothing to prove it. There’s nothing unique that lets you stand out from the crowd, and so you’re just one in a mass.

I, personally, want a hard mode of the dungeon, where you get a unique skin, that only those who did hard mode can get.

It’s not fun for me, if I do not get something for my character that I can show off. And currently, the only show-off item is the Jetpack. But it’s not soulbound, and furthermore, it’s not hard to get – it’s just about luck. So basically, while it was fun to run the dungeon, I was so disappointed at the reward that I won’t be doing it again.

I understand how you can be satisfied with just the experience. I can’t, however. It’s not fun the second or third time or anything beyond that. Fractals are fairly fun, because you feel you’re working towards a goal. I know the goal’s not there, because at the end of the day, you’re just increasing the level to get more of nothing.

After reading an opinion piece from killtenrats about all this temporary content, I’ve come to accept and even like the concept. My main is my ranger, and I’ve done all the temporary stuff so far completely with him.

In a way, it’s like my grizzled ranger can walk into a tavern and start telling stories about the campaigns he’s been in to the younger adventurers that missed it. My character actually has a history within the game world. I like that A LOT.
