I believe that Rox and Braham are just the start of a new generation Destiny’s Edge. ANet went out of their way to give them both unique appearances, awesome new weapons, and even went(or will go) in depth with their background. Rox was made without a Warband to make her individual and free to do as she wishes, and Braham free from his homestead by having it under attack and also his father dead and disconnected from his mother. This makes them both allowed to join/create a guild of their own apart from their race. They both also have unique or more non-stereotypical personalities for their race. While this doesn’t point directly to them joining together into a new Destiny’s Edge, I believe that ANet won’t just throw these guys away or just make them side-characters in the future. Also, they’ll probably encounter or join up with each other in the final installment of Flame and Frost when they assault the Molten Alliance’s Base or HQ.

Opinions?

That’s actually a really interesting way of looking at it. After you mentioned it, I’m starting to see that too. I have a feeling they’ll definitely keep them both past the living story events. I’m attached, and curious to both of their pasts.

Maybe a new Destiny’s Edge will be formed when fighting the next dragon? Or maybe before the an expansion gets released?

hmm. I completely forgot that Rox and Braham haven’t meet yet! That’s going to be interesting.

Haha, nice idea. So the next installment of the living story will feature “golems vs plants” which covers the new asura and sylvari figure.
Yes, Logan will be the link to the past.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I was wondering where the frost was in Flame and Frost (i.e. the Molten Alliance is clearly bringing the flame but no one’s bringg the frost), but if it refers to Rox and Braham that makes more sense and I can definitely see how they could be the making of a new generation.

I’m kind of hoping one of them dies. I don’t have anything against them (I’m not overly attached to Rox, but it’s early days) but not enough writers have the balls to kill of their main characters. If they do kill them off, I hope they don’t go with the heroes death, it’s been done before and it’s starting to lose its impact in Tyria. It's kind of old hat for GW2 though with all the forced deaths in the personal story (the mentor deaths felt very formulaic).

I doubt they would just create two characters and invest all this story time to them only to drop those characters later on, but at the same time, I don’t see what’s wrong with Destiny’s Edge. Maybe the writers felt they had written them as too senior in their racial communities to have it believable they can tag along with the player all the time? I read something about how the writers had to decide if the events of the Living Story take place during or after the personal story. Maybe that’s why they can’t use Destiny’s Edge – they are too involved with the personal story and these guys are place holders until the writers feel comfortable deciding the events of the personal story are over.

ArenaNet said something about a nemesis. It’s possible they are setting Rox or Braham up to somehow turn on the player. Former allies often make good enemies given the right plot developments and motivations. I don’t see it happening, but it could be an interesting twist.

I have to disagree. They’ve already overused the killing off of characters to the point where there’s no pathos left to generate there. Honestly, I already kind of expect both of them to die, so it’s really hard to actually care about them.

Anyway, I fully support the new characters replacing Destiny’s Edge, dealing with their drama was just irritating, especially Logan and Eir.

The player characters of GW2 are essentially the “New Generation” of Destiny’s Edge. Think about it, your racial mentor takes a special interest in your character because they see themselves in you. The members of Destiny’s Edge realize that their time has come and gone and while they have gotten over their own pasts, they still want to see you succeed. They’re basically grooming you to become them, and teaching you how to avoid the mistakes that initially tore them apart. They want your character to rise up and become an even greater hero than themselves.

Just my personal opinion of course. That said, I hope to see more of Braham and Rox I liked both of these characters and I hope we see them in the future even when the living story is concluded. I could even see a point in the story where both form a guild (as OP mentioned) which also includes your character. There are many options open and I can’t wait to see how things turn out.

Well, one issue in the OP is that Rox may be a gladium atm, she’s trying out for the Stone Warband (I’m calling the name “Rox Cutestone” now), so I don’t think she’ll always be “free to do what she wants because she’s a gladium” – if helping give a good dent into the Molten Alliance doesn’t impress Rytlock, I don’t know what will.

As to forming a new Destiny’s Edge – why not have them join Destiny’s Edge?

Haha, nice idea. So the next installment of the living story will feature “golems vs plants” which covers the new asura and sylvari figure.
Yes, Logan will be the link to the past.

I actually suspect it’ll deal with the Sinister Triad due to Logan, Zojja, and Caithe’s letters during the beginning of The Gathering Storm – each talking about a situation they’re stuck dealing with (“queen’s business” and “Nightmare Court” for Caithe spell directly to that, while Zojja’s is a bit more interesting).

Together, it just spells “Sinister Triad” and would be a great time to expand upon that little alliance.

I was wondering where the frost was in Flame and Frost (i.e. the Molten Alliance is clearly bringing the flame but no one’s bringg the frost), but if it refers to Rox and Braham that makes more sense and I can definitely see how they could be the making of a new generation.

I hadn’t considered that…

I was thinking that in the fourth installment – or later during this installment – there will be new Svanir development, seeing how there’s a few NPC dialogues of the Molten Alliance’s actions stirring up the Sons of Svanir.

I’m kind of hoping one of them dies. I don’t have anything against them (I’m not overly attached to Rox, but it’s early days) but not enough writers have the balls to kill of their main characters.

I think there’s enough deaths of good characters in GW2. And the novels for that matter.

If Anet keeps killing off all the interesting characters, we’ll be left with the same boring old figures or need to keep introducing new people.

I don’t think Braham and Rox will be replacing Destiny’s Edge though. Something tells me that Braham, Rox, and future Living Story main heroes will be the focus for non-dragon threats, while Destiny’s Edge focuses on dragon threats.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

i just realised something if the sinister triad is behind this and the inquest still have ties to the dredge and allign with the molten alliance then thats a rival group for each major race that aren’t dragon minions
