Just wondering what the droprate for the decorative Molten Jetpack
is which is obtainable via the boss chest.

I’m asking because I have completed the dungeon 20 times already and only get a rare inscription + karma + recipe and it’s getting on my nerfs. I want the Jetpack sooo bad and I am not willing to pay 100+ gold (Trading Post) for a decorative Jetpack without any effects or benefits.

I too would love to know this.

Just to vent a bit here (not really complaining about the game). I’m officially sick of the dungeon because of the kitten jetpack. I want it so much for my engineer, as I’m a steampunk person living in a world of magic, and the general equipment isn’t for me, aside from maybe 1 armor set.

Then I do the dungeon 10 times with different parties, after the third run I teach everyone what to do on every part, and even this way we die and people leave and the server updates and so on. I can’t blame de players, they’re doing what they can, and so do I. It’s just that after soloing that kitten ooze, waiting hours to get people to play and not getting even one rare or above item from the chest, I’m done with it.

Jetpack is just too rare. Supply is at an astounding 46 at the TP (mind you, the TP is for all the servers) now, and the price will never get to the 10g that is all I have. Guess I’ll stay without the jet. I love almost all aspects of the game and I do understand the concept of prestige items, but super rare drops from temporary content make the same rich people pile rare loot every time. That aside, the dungeon is fun and I love the Living Story in general =P

They should have made it an extra reward from completing the dungeon.
Still no sign of Jetpack after another 4 rounds.

They must be lucky then, cause I’ve done it 12ish times and all I’ve gotten was the kitten inscription and recipe. Getting really tired of those. And last I looked, the jet pack was 120g, which I’ll never get without buying gems with real $ and converting them to gold, but even at current rate, I would need to spend >$50 to get the gold needed just to get one jetpack (and I would have to do the same to get a mini firestorm as well).

You can do the boss chest as many times as you can do in the day, each day till the 12th of May (at noon pacific I think).

I suspect that the jetpack will come down in price as more people start speed running the dungeon and as more people find out about these rare rewards, such as myself.

I didn’t know about the jetpack until this post. I visit the forum often and keep myself relatively informed, however I haven’t visited this subforum much. I’m sure there are more like myself that will find out about this in the next few days and begin spamming the dungeon. I’ve done it 3 times just to help friends, but with this information I’ll now be speed running it as much as possible until it’s gone. The dungeon seems easy enough I imagine zerk runs could clear it with good time.

Are there any other very rare exclusive items that drop in the dungeon?

I just finished the dungeon for the 18th time and I’m extremely proud to say I’ve gotten jack squat from it (besides cooking recipes and yellow inscriptions) with all 18 runs combined.

Why we couldn’t get tokens at the end of the dungeon ? With a certain number of tokens, we could choose our reward ….

A token system would’ve been better than this crap, even if it meant a 30+ times of grinding through that same dungeon. At least then you’d KNOW you were making progress.

So the best players could face a final boss that is incredibly hard, but entirely skipable, and if the best players succeeded, they’d be given a free unique Molten Prototype Never-Seen-Before weapon token, to buy a brand new unique best-player only item with the same stats as any other weapon, but a cool skin. And the bad players could continue to be bad, and not get said skin – but not be at a disadvantage either.

Here’s how it shouldn’t be: Regardless of whether the player is good or bad, it makes no difference as the content is too easy, and the rewards are handed out based on luck.

Well RNG is RNG, but I just got mine about an hour ago on my 11th run. Guildie got the firestorm mini after 5th run.

So don’t give up! Plus it’s fun and fast too. Still plan on doing a lot more.

So, it’s perfectly ok that some players statistically will never receive ANY of the goodies that are introduced to the game, no matter how hard they try, no matter how much time and skill they purpose for the game?

Random is a cruel mistress, and games really need to stop giving her power over rewards.

Yeah, not everybody is going to get everything or the economy would be pretty shoddy, no demand for anything…

That’s what i liked about the SAB. You could get the stuff from chests, but in case RNG didn’t work out for you there was the option of using bauble bubbles. It took a lot, but at least you were guaranteed something if you spent the time.

In all seriousness, it’s one item you’re going to miss out on.. but not everyone will miss out, so don’t worry! Yet again people making such a big deal over the little things…

Ran this dungeon so many times now it’s starting to wear thin. I organize the group, mark the priority kills, run a regen/dps build to try and raise the success rate as some people just don’t seem to even want to try on the last bosses. last time i ran the final boss i had to solo most of the first stage, managed to res a few peeps but they ate shockwaves, had to 3 man the final stage which took ages. With a good group it takes 30-40 mins, i was there for 2 hours with one group! my point is i’m putting alot of effort in to these runs but getting very little reward for that because of RNG.

RNG has had it’s time, It’s not needed now, there needs to be a better way to implement these sought after prizes other then pure luck or buy it from an over priced economy.

I will keep trying, but every run builds a little more resentment towards RNG and it’s place in the game..

Just what is the purpose to have the ending wait a couple weeks and then only be doable for 4 days …. and then not be anything but a cutscene and not have any prize?? Is it your hope to exclude anyone who works or has finals those 4 days for some satanic reason? I have no problem, I’m retired and will probably remember to finish it off in those 4 days…… but I just don’t see the reasoning, if there is any.

(So I can’t stand to have something uncompleted staring at me on my screen every day…. I’m old , I’m entitled to be eccentric)

Preaching to the choir, man. I’m at the edge of my seat every time I have to dps down the last 10% of Firestorm by myself so everyone can rez and move on. I’d like this dungeon a lot more if I knew I could achieve what I feel I technically deserve via effort at this point.

Have run the bloodie dungeon 8 times now. Haven’t dropped anything worthy.

I believe a mix of tokens and rare drops would work best, provided you can tell them apart. Similar to the way SAB was done except there isnt any difference in those items depending on how you get them.

I would make 3 visually similar but different jetpacks. One is a very rare drop like now and can be sold, (maybe binds on equip?). The second is a medium-to-rare drop (say 10%-15% chance) but account bound (with binds on equip), and the third one is bought with tokens (tokens are account-bound, jetpack needs about 50-80, jetpack is account or soulbound), you get 1 token from each chest and they can drop as rare drop from all Molten Alliance trash (not the wildlife at the start).

That way anyone that cares for it can put in some time to get it as a drop (about 6-8 runs or so to get it), if very very unlucky can still got the token solution if he REALLY wants it. And some players walk away with the main prize that they can either use themselves or sell for gold on the TP.

This also accomplishes the apparent prestige item goal of Anet. In my suggestion, two of the three can only be gotten this month and they are visually distinct so you know those players have been there for it. And there will still be the third one on the TP for people that join the game in the years to come or would rather put in the gold instead of the time (There would be more on the TP then now too because i made versions available that are less rare, so more of the very rare ones get sold).

So what is “bad enough”? The guy that got a 2nd special drop on his 4th run must have been playing it so hard to get those. Here I am starting my 26th run and I haven’t even gotten an exotic inscription, much less a special drop.
That’s like being paid with lottery tickets. Maybe you’ll get the money you want, maybe you’ll just go hungry until the next one, it’s all fair though!

RNG is a terrible system to put in with limited content, all this does is sour the experience for dedicated players who want to earn special items. No matter how many times you run this (my goal is 65 at minimum), you still could end up with absolutely nothing. If they added tokens or something, even just a set drop % at different run thresholds, this would be so much more fair for those who seek to acquire something.

It’s understandable that you can deal with not getting the Fused Gloves because you missed the progression required to obtain them, it had a bar to achieve & you didn’t fill it up. But here I am already working on dumping my 26th hour of life into a game, and I’m probably not getting anything from it again. No possible way to gauge progress on this.

I agree, this was a terrible system for limited content. I guess them legalizing maryj in Washington has done it’s effect on the ANET staff that decided to do this. I realise they want these items to be rare, but in 2 years from now when the game is 80% of new players, they will be rare rather then today.

Yes you can be snide and just tell people to purchase them off the trading post, if EVERYONE did that or could, there wouldn’t be enough to go around for everyone that deserves to get these items before the event ends, so your point is irrielivant and unhelpful.

It’s like the cashshop scamshop, people say “you’re the sucker for caring/buying” but that’s just how life works, there is a % of every type of person and situation. Hospitals can garentee they will see people everyday due to statistics, so many people around the area and people are just expected to get hurt. So these people who want to unlock everything just will if they can and ANET knows it, it won’t change anything. Just realise ANET is scamming us players and stick up for the people, not your ego.

The game is FREE for 90% of the players because 10% of the others are paying $100 a month to unlock everything with their terrible RNG system. That may not be your hobby, but to some players it is… so support the players not ANET’s scamshop. Which they know it’s true… it’s also why they never comment on the threads with explination.

Anet could sell every item on the TP for a fixed price and still get the same amount of money if they balanced it. Because all the people that REFUSE to gamble would balance out those that do and buy 500 chest instead of 100 to get an item they want. Anet just dosn’t give a rats kitten they find it better to demolish peoples money, people with bad habits/gambling, and use poor tactics to make money.

This game is far from free, it’s a rip off for the 10% of players they choose to unlock everything, then take the game as “free”. Don’t be a downer and say you can trade gold for gems, really… only a few people make that type of money in this game, the average population dosn’t make 300g a month or w/e to keep up with all the new items/gems.

This month alone, so far… you need around 70g to buy gems for the new weapon skins, another 70g for mini, another 110g for jetpack, like 200g for the dyes which is probably a cheaper way then gambling with the dye packs.. 18g for the molten pick. The month isn’t over. yeah a TP flipper makes that cash if they are good at it, the average player does not. This means crack out the wallet or lose out… ANET knows this. Same reason for making things limited. Rather then keeping it forever and allowing people to buy it over a period of time, they want to rush you to spend $100 tomorrow, rather than over the next year.

Edit: I forgot to add 12+ fused weapon tickets which seem to be 1 in 50-100 BLC each if you want to complete your PvP locker, assuming these tickets become limited. A 50 chest a ticket, that’s 600 keys or 1800g… that’s also not counting if you wanted tickets for PvE verisons too.

There is NO REASON to not allow your dedicated and hard working players to earn everything the game has to offer, that’s kinda the point… but at the right it is, you need to work a full time job to PAY for the items, or play 24 hours a day and monoplize the trading post like crazy.

Terrible system, good way to push your players away when they have had enough, especially the dedicated ones. People don’t like to feel like they are being milked like a cow. :P

Bad system, Bad Anet, I had more faith in you, I always considered you a great gaming company from GW1 considering the amount of years we put into the game without having to spend a ton of money… in GW2 it’s completely backwords, it’s another WoW/RuneScape company… after the almighty dollar.

They need people to buy gems for real money because they need money to make the game run / update / add more content but when the content is not encouraging me to play to get rewarded with something awesome (Jetpack for example) then I might quit this game soon because i’m sick of grinding games.

EDIT; make limited-time dungeon reward me with tokens that you get from doing the dungeon so I can choose my reward and don’t put a chest in there with an item that has a 0,001% drop rate. It’s not like the dungeon takes 10 minutes to complete, this dungeon takes around an hour with a decent/good team without dieing at every pack of molten monsters.

I have done around 35 runs. I believe the only unique drops I haven’t has are the backpack and the mini. I got the molten berserker tonic on my last run and I think that will do me for “grinding”. Ill go back and play for fun at some stage this week so who knows. TBH I don’t really want the backpack though, I was just happy to get the berserker tonic, even if it costs 100 lodestones to make ^^ I really like the chef recipes, 1 hour instead of 30 minutes is so nice.

It sucks you can’t get the jetpack through a vendor currency, but there’s nothing you can do about that. Either farm the dungeon and quit your kittening or earn 100g+ to get the jetpack.

I haven’t gotten a jetpack yet either, but I’m not mad about it. That’s just the way the chips fall.

Not true. The Jetpack is a random drop from this dungeon. This dungeon will be gone on the 12th. So its only going to skyrocket as soon as the 12th rolls around. I think each dungeon in going to have its own special drop. So if you really want it, you better get it now… because 100g is the low end of what its going to cost in the future.

Also those who are complaining about the drop rate really need to stop QQing.
The idea behind it was to be a unique item that only a few people have. If everyone could get the jetpack, then everyone would be wearing it and no one would like it because it is not unique. I really like the idea behind limited extremely rare items in the game. I personally was able to buy mine for 60g the day of the patch. I knew the price would double, so I sold everything in my bank just to get one. I don’t think ANET should cater to everyone baby out there who wants everything handed to them.
