Why is Meatoberfest still active?
Gasp! But Meatoberfest is one of the highlights of the zone and it shows how the charr and norn could possible get along. It’s one of the reasons that I take every character through the zone. I would be kind of sad if some goofy Living Story arc destroyed such an important part of that zone’s charm.
We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)

I don’t think he wants it to be destroyed permanently, just shut down for a few months until the Razing is cleared up.
That WOULD make more sense, certainly, but disabling heart quests probably wouldn’t sit well with people.
Because not even the Molten Alliance can stop the Charr and Norn from appreciating their meat!

I know the charr love meat…but I’m pretty sure they love living and fighting more.
I dunno about that. Meat is pretty good.
During times of turmoil why would a people give up something that makes them happy and helps them forget about terrible things for a few moments? Maybe some Charr refugees wanted to have one last party before slogging through hostile territory.
In all seriousness though, if the event is built into the zone like that I wonder how easy it would even be for them to turn it off? I assume they can, just like any other one-time or living world thing, but others have already pointed out that it’s one of the highlights of the zone, and easily one of the most entertaining lower level areas.

I figured the heart could be reset to something else while the Invasion was going on.

They could just add a few F&F NPC’s to Butcher’s Block saying they’re donating some of the Meatoberfest provisions to the refugee’s… and also keeping the party going to keep their spirits up for a bit.
Tyrian Inquisitor: “So, why is it that you are keeping Meatoberfest running despite the Molten Alliance popping up all around you?”
Lakor Grizzlemouth: “You DO realise how many adventurers get attracted to Meatoberfest every day, don’t you? Norn by the dozen, half the off-duty charr in the general area, sylvari looking to experience some prime cuts and pickled wurm eggs, an ever-increasing number of humans since the truce and even the occasional asura something-or-other-mancer, all ready to run out and have some fun at the expense of some Dredge or Gold Legion vegetables. Shut it down? Nah, Meatoberfest is probably half the reason this region hasn’t fallen to the Melting Alliance already. We’re just doing our bit for the Legions here. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I see some steaks and a barbeque that are just about ready to do their bit for the Legions…”

Alternatively if you want a nastier explanation—you might ask why there is so much meat there..and so few enemy forces around that particular town…

Surely they only live and fight because of meat and beer? Remove those and the Molten Alliance would march right into the Black Citadel.
On a practical basis I suppose it’s because of the renown heart, replacing it and removing that content would serve no real purpose beyond making a bit more sense for a month or two.
Because Aynna Quicksight is still waiting for Karris to bring them pickled eggs.
Because the USDA refuses to allow Charr- broiled meat to be re-frozen and re-thawed?
Or because the ice for the freezer ALWAYS melts BEFORE it can be used
Or——————-just maybe——————because if you let the Charr-broilers go out, you can NEVER find a Fire Elementalist to restart them??

I always assumed the Living Story was meant to alter the landscape a little. Plus, it’d be neat to see a renown heart altered.
