best boss encounter ever
For some reason, the message at the end saying your shoes have been damaged made me laugh. XD
I wish I could laugh. Being smacked in the face by an invisible hand of the market force for 14k damage in splitsecond really hurt my feelings, as an extension of my own body broke my shoes.
It also instilled a minor case of PTSD in how the beserker and molten brawlers will just lay into and bash downed players into a pulp.
The bosses fights in Molten Factory are epic – was easy but its story mode. Pls make this dungeon as mini dungeon for fractals or hardest proper dungeon.
The boss encounter in the Molten Facility is just brilliant. It’s just the right difficulty to end the instance, & it requires intelligence & skill rather than just a lot of time whittling down HP.
It’s got variety (in which you choose to take down first), it’s got environmental stuff, it’s perfect.
Yes, I liked the boss in this dungeon. It was not just a grind against a huge HP pool, it actually had some mechanics and needed a bit of player skill and cooperation to handle. Well done.

I would definitely say they are a non-trivial fight. I’m glad the first time I ran the dungeon it was with someone experienced, that boss fight is definitely one where you want to know what’s going on. A decently coordinated group can take them, but I would be very surprised if a casual PUG could defeat them even after multiple tries. And from some of the posts it sounds like that is the case.
My guild and I grabbed our worst geared characters, some well under lvl 80 as well, and blasted right through this dungeon. We had a few wipes yes, but overall I wouldn’t ever consider it ‘casual-unfriendly’ .
But I’m willing to bet you and your guildmates and are used to playing with each other, making you better coordinated as being more knowledgeable about how to play your under-level 80 characters. Judging this boss fight against your experience with your guild is not an appropriate gauge on whether it’s casual friendly. This dungeon is not heinous, but it is no push-over and I would say it is far harder than the Mad King’s dungeon, which I would rate as more casual friendly.
I did it with several PuG groups too, some of them so disorganized and inexperienced we spent more time helping find lost teammates than fighting lol, but we still cleared it with few wipes. I did say too that my guild team wiped a time or two as well. The reason we did well even in the random pugs, was that we took our time. Even if we knew we could most likely just roll through a group we still took our time and regrouped after, let cooldowns reset, ect. We did have the advantage of me knowing the gauntlet trap room and the bosses, but those who pug a lot also know, you can explain until your fingers bleed but until they do it, most won’t understand. I still stand by my original stance that this is casual friendly. Yes it requires more effort than mad king dungeon, but you could auto attack the entire time in mad king and finish it in under 15 mins easily. Casual players have every opportunity to complete F&F dungeon, it just might require a little more effort on their part. Ive seen several posts already saying this was a first dungeon encounter for many people and they loved it and had a blast.
I cannot fathom why MMOs refuse to implement this mechanic that has worked so well in every other video game genre. GW2 has already shown it can scale content so it should be possible. The rewards would need to be adjusted so greater challenges give great rewards but scaling could even allow solo players to at least SEE the ending of the F&F storyline if their schedule doesn’t permit them the time to group over the limited 2 week period (and we’ve all been there with our real life schedules before).
I would happily run through it with you as many times as you want if anyone is having trouble completing it if I was able to get in game right now (currently stuck in a hospital bed with no reliable internet access lol) and doubt I’ll make it back in time, but there’s always the next dungeon.
~Surrender fiend and you will get an easy death
~I could promise you the same…but it would be a lie…
The boss chest is not affected by which boss is killed last. It’s purely your choice as the players.
The boss chest should not be affected by RNG either, but you keep insisting in that unjustified reward system, and good players have quited because of that. Hell I am thinking it myself after 40 runs at Molten Facility and no pet or backback. Too bad because it is one well designed dungeon and overall event but you managed to take the fun out of it.
Cheers
Agreed, the dungeon was excellent! Everything was very well designed and the final boss encounter seemed impossible at first, but quite manageable when you understand the mechanics.
Thanks, Arenanet! And keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback and support! Glad you all enjoy the encounter
Now they’ll remove it in a week’s time to ensure this encounter cannot be enjoyed any longer.
I like this dungeon very much. Thanks A’net. Your effort is appreciated!
Anet plz keep this dungeon
I just like it that Molten Firestorm blows kisses at the end of his pose-off ;_;.
Top notch boss fight! I would play a whole game based on MWF.
I am a bit sad that as a low level character I have to try and beg someone to let me join them in this dungeon, I say keep it there so I can get to 80 first!
