Hey Everyone,
The search feature has been broken for several months now and I know some of you would like to find topics here. So I will share my work around that seems to work pretty well.

1. Go to http://www.google.com/
2. In the search box type “[SEARCH PHRASE] site:forum-en.guildwars2.com”
3. Click Search Tools and narrow your search to what you want to see.

Google does a pretty good job of indexing these forums so it’s likely you’ll find what your looking for there. Enjoy!

I admit this may appear juvenile, so yes, flame all you want, but it’ll bug me if I don’t say anything.

While I by no means think I was the only one to find this feature or even the first to suggest it (I fully acknowledge I didn’t read the full 5 pages of the thread to see if anyone else had suggested it), it’s clear by your post in the main thread on this topic (second below mine in the link below) that you could easily see and very likely read my post.

While I think it was a good idea to create a new topic to highlight this workaround and make it easy for people to find (it’s not like they can find it by doing a search :-P ), I just think a simple thank you or acknowledgement would have been nice instead of claiming it was “your” workaround.

Like I said, juvenile…maybe. But common courtesy is a thing I have found lacking in both the game and forums of late and like I said…it bugs me.

Why must we work around so much with GW2 lately… They cannot even get a simple search function to function for the forums…

And it is not like it broke last night… It has been broken for at least 3 months…

They say “never choose a book by its cover” but if the basic functionality of a website cannot function correctly, how can anyone have faith in the game functioning?

How quick are any of you to “find another site” if you cannot navigate a company website? I am quick to pay more for an item if the site is navigable… this is unacceptable on more levels than I can count….

The search has never worked on this forum. It’s really the worst I have ever used of any search function on any forum.

This work around… if you had to do it in game would be considered an exploit!!!! How many work arounds that are required for completion were considered “exploits”????

Thanks for the tip! I tried the searchbar a while back and figured it was just a minor bug. Pretty disappointed to find out that this a continuous problem. Poor form; if Anet is too busy to fix it right now, they could at least remove it until it actually works. :P
