Official Lost Shores Survey link broken [merged threads]
Not sure where to post this exactly, but every single promotional email I receive from you guys has dead links. By “you guys” I mean The Guild Wars 2 Team <guildwars2@ncsoft.com>. Whenever I click on any of the links in the email I get the following:
Server not found
Firefox can’t find the server at guildwars2.ncsoft.com.
The latest link is for the survey on The Lost Shores event. This url gives me the above error:
http://guildwars2.ncsoft.com/ct/27774940:7478340984:m:1:466170375:586F05FA3525CD4A2E98149A7111209E:r
Is it only me experiencing this?
Same, I get this error.
“Sorry ‘guildwars2.ncsoft.com ct 27774940 7478677628 m 1 539198702 12ABACDE6D1FE89A11C5BDADE4E5A445 r’ does not exist or is not available.”
EDIT: A guildie received a working link. Here it is.

I get the same thing with every email I get from NCSoft…the links never work.
I googled and managed (after some playing around with the wording) to find the latest survey online…try this link:
http://newsletters.ncsoft.com/emp/gw2/announcement/2012-11-21/na.html
Same here. I can’t open any of the links I get by email from NCSOFT about Guild Wars 2.
It always complains about not finding the guildwars2.ncsoft.com subdomain.
I believe it’s a DNS error somewhere.
It’s impossible do ping the address:
- ping guildwars2.ncsoft.com
ping: unknown host guildwars2.ncsoft.com
And dig can’t get an answer about the subdomain:
- dig guildwars2.ncsoft.com
; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1 <<>> guildwars2.ncsoft.com
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 43477

;; SERVER: 127.0.0.1#53(127.0.0.1)
;; WHEN: Tue Nov 20 22:16:06 2012
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 39
BUT, if I check directly using Google DNS I can get an acceptble answer:
dig @8.8.8.8 guildwars2.ncsoft.com
; <<>> DiG 9.8.1-P1 <<>> @8.8.8.8 guildwars2.ncsoft.com

EDIT: Changed manually my nameserver at /etc/resolv.conf and it’s working now. Using Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8)
(edited by KuroiShin.2504)
I get the same error here.
Thanks.
Both of the above links works.
The second redirects to the:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eGW2LostShores_en
Confirming, the link doesn’t work for me, either.
Something buggy about it.
www.lionsarch.org
Just read the EDIT part of my reply. Try to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and give it a try =)
It fails in conjunction with the event.
Oops! Google Chrome could not find guildwars2.ncsoft.com
Well done, guys.

Same here, but links in GW emails NEVER work for me.
I get this same message every time.
This one I’d like fixed though because I would like to give feedback on this.
so i got an email from guildwars2@ncsoft.com via bluehornet
They say they want a feedback in the form of a survey and I would really like to give my thoughts on this, though the link is broken
does not work on both chrome or firefox.
am i the only one having this problem?
Im having the same issue, In fact i never follow the links in any of their emails cause they simply dont work, Tried it on both IE and Firefox and they just dont work.
I have the exact same error. Seriously, did I just read somewhere in that email that GW2 value the customer feedback? And those customers like me who bothered to click the link to feedback were presented with an error page? /facepalm
I am lost for word to say.
Haha – me too – the irony!!
Yep, all links I click in the e-mails from “The Guild Wars 2 Team <guildwars2@ncsoft.com>” do not work.
Never Have.
Hopefully they realise this and will fix it.
Soon.
I have the same problem.
I received many email from that address but links are never worked. Today i received mail for feedback about Lost Shores event but links are still not working. Even “Having trouble viewing the email below? Please click here.” link not working. I’m not having problem viewing the email, but all links in mails from that address are not working.
Complaining is healthy but sometimes it looks like I’m surrounded by old ppl that do nothing but complain, so ppl chill out please.
As I said up there it looks like a DNS issue. The problem with this kind of issue is that we don’t know where is the problem. It could be a bad config file somewhere along several nodes, which do not necessarily belongs to NCSOFT.
It’s a major pain in the kitten to solve a DNS problem like this mainly because you WILL rely on other companies along the way to find where the problem is.
So open a bug report and wait, it will be solved. In the meantime, use Google DNS (8.8.8.8) as your main DNS and be happy.
Peace o/
Edit: LoL, it changed to kitten XD
(edited by Moderator)
Yep. All links in e-mails from Arenanet fail EVERYTIME.
It is so frustrating. What is their problem?
Same is true here. Even the “Having trouble seeing this email? Click Here” link is broken. By the way, thank-you ioki for linking the survey!
This was also true for the invite a friend email and many other emails in the past. The first Halloween event email though worked. Hope arenanet can get it working properly; would be very nice and much more convenient.
Sea of Sorrows

I got the email again, presumably they sent it twice to fix the issue – issue was not fixed.
Not surprisingly the links in the new Black friday sale email don’t work either – they actually have the exact same faulty URL as the Survey email….. Someone needs to get their kittens together.
It seems insane to me that you can send out mass emails with links to something that doesn’t even exist: The root to all of the faulty emails is guildwars2.ncsoft.com/ Thats not even a website -_-
-snip-
The issue with your suggestion comes from the fact that the google DNS are horrible. I’ve used them before and it rather noticeably affected my internets performance. I’d rather not have to change to them to fix one website when the issue isn’t on the user end. – But thank you for actually offering a suggestion and being smart enough to at least find some sort of hint at what the real issue is!
(edited by FlamingFoxx.1305)
Yes, I always get the same issue with their e-mails. I think it’s because the links have those “:” (colons) in them.
I’ve tried Chrome as well and it doesn’t work.
Hello, same to me. None of the Guild Wars 2 email links works for me, always have to access it from the official website. It dind’t worked on Chrome or IE. Thats happens with all emails.
Attached you can find a printscreen with the error.
It is odd, the solution with Google DNS worked here. But sincerely this can’t be the solution to everyone, sometimes this DNS makes the internet slow for me, so everytime GW2 Team send me an email I have to change my DNS to read it?
Hope you guys can fix it soon, guessing that was some local problem, but now found lots of people getting same error.
I have also received many emails from guildwars2@ncsoft.com – most of them promotions about the in-game store, or notifications about new content.
I do not wish to receive any more promotional emails, but the links included in the email do not work. In addition, replying to the email results in a reject message from ncsoft’s mail server, saying that the address does not exist.
My account on the GW2 website does not have a way to unsubscribe from the email list.
In short – unsubscribe me from the mailing list, and slap the mailing list manager until s/he fixes the links and the reply address.
Same here – pretty annoying
same here, tried to ‘Click Here For More Details’.
‘Server Not Found’
There’s something going seriously wrong for them here.
I’m guessing it is because they have only just changed the domain name and it hasn’t propagated to the name servers yet. You can try again in a couple of days (or add a manual entry to your hosts file if you know what you’re doing).
My local DNS in Australia doesn’t return anything for the domain, however I did a lookup for guildwars2.ncsoft.com via my work servers in Europe and it did resolve as follows:
guildwars2.ncsoft.com is an alias for echo7.bluehornet.com.
echo7.bluehornet.com has address 216.54.194.1
It’s an alias to echo7.bluehornet.com – the company hosting the survey/post information. You can just replace the guildwars2.ncsoft.com with echo7.bluehornet.com and it will work.
Anet needs to make sure they change the dns setting at least 48 hours before pushing out the emails… or actually set it up as a redirect from a domain that isn’t going to change.
If you want to access it without changing your dns settings just replace the guildwars2.ncsoft.com part of the URL with echo7.bluehornet.com
Just read the EDIT part of my reply. Try to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and give it a try =)
Thanks for the advice KuroiShin, however while very helpful, it should not be necessary for players to have to reset DNS. One would expect Arenanet to fix the links.
Email today for BCTP Weekend sales has same issue.
I will wait for a fix, however for those who are that determined to view here’s info on how to change DNS to Google.

Please try using the following link, the possible problem may be that your browser does not allow the redirect from the official URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eGW2LostShores_en
You probably should read the thread before posting a fix, shifting blame to browsers which makes zero sense.
KuroiShin.2504 explains it quite well.

Hello there.
Just a quick message to let you know that I have proceed to merge three threads that were discussing the issue with the links at the same time.
Thanks for letting us know.
Please try using the following link, the possible problem may be that your browser does not allow the redirect from the official URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eGW2LostShores_en
Thank-you for this official post. I was wary of the links posted above and wanted to wait for Arena Net to confirm them before completing the survey.
Please try using the following link, the possible problem may be that your browser does not allow the redirect from the official URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eGW2LostShores_en
Thanks for the link – but it seems odd that none of my browsers have the ability to do this – Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari all didn’t like the link :S
There’s a working link to the surveymonkey LS survey in think link and Anet have posted working links on FB.
Last post in this thread was three months ago. I just now got a new email re “Get Access to a New PvP Map and Guild Missions for Guild Wars 2”, and all the links are throwing up 404 errors.
I guess it takes pressure off servers if there is no traffic directed to them……
