Sometimes issues pop up and may need to read threads on the forum with answers.

How do people access the forum if they cant log in when it request?

This is something that should be easier to fix.

Maybe agreed, but only on the support forum, for times when you need help with actually logging in. For the rest of the forums it would be a disaster if there wasnt any limitation on who (or what) can post.

It is not about posting. It is about accessing.

Yes, you already can read the forums without logging in. Only posting needs logging.

For some reason sometimes you need to log in, never really understood the system.

Also I’d love a “remember login” function.

It is possible to read the forums without logging in. You only need to log in if you intend to post.

Great idea… hadn’t thought of that.

Alternatively, clear cookies from guildwars2.com and you won’t be forced to log in (if you already have an account).

i don’t understand, you can always view the forum if you’re logged out :/…

This happens to me intermittently . Even if you do a google search on GW2 that leads to a thread on the forums, the link won’t lead to the thread, but instead leads you to the GW2 login page. In that situation you can’t view the forum threads without logging in. It may be a browser issue, but I don’t have this issue with other forums. As mentioned before this is not related to posting on the forums (which obviously requires logging in), just thread viewing. Not everyone seems to be affected though.

When I’m on my laptop or PC or smartphone, I don’t need to log in to read the forums. However, if I access the forums from my tablet, then I am required to log in just to access the forums. I agree, very annoying and I’m not sure why it’s only with my tablet that I have this issue.

I think it’s something to do with the cookies the site hands out. Prior to joining GW2 I couldn’t read anything about what people were saying or what was being done in patch notes because all I could see were the post subjects; clicking on posts always lead me straight to the login screen; however after joining and signing into the forums for the first time I’ve been able to view posts without logging in (although that’s inconsistent too, sometimes I still have to log in to see a post).

There’s a problem with invalid/expired sessions that force you to login to view the forums. This problem can also cause other side effects, such as displaying a “page not available, try again” when accessing the forums.

To get around this, you can either start a private/incognito browser session (or clear cookies) or manually logout by remembering the url.

I can access and read the forums without logging in. I just can’t post anything. (Or like anything) I’ve never ran into any issues with not being able to.

I’m using Chrome and the browser remembers my login. All the information is filled in when I visit this site so all I gotta do is click “login”. Use Chrome of Firefox. But even IE should have this feature I would think.
